This time, I’m sharing some photos from a business trip I took to San Cristóbal, where I took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of the places I visited during my brief stay.

I flew out of Barquisimeto and arrived at the San Antonio airport, which struck me as small but quite cozy. It has many partner airlines and offers all the necessary services, including a small restaurant.

During the short time I was at the airport, my attention was drawn to a dog wearing a jacket with the words “pilot-airport” on it. He is the airport's mascot and likes to play with empty water bottles; if you sit down and leave your water on the floor, the dog will take it and start playing with it.

It takes about 40 minutes by car from San Antonio to San Cristóbal. The scenery is very pleasant, with cool weather and lush vegetation.

Once in San Cristóbal, I had the opportunity to visit a church known as the “Church of the Angel,” so named because its façade features a large sculpture of an angel in a prayerful pose.

This church is located in the “Banco Obrero” district, in a central part of the city. I later learned that the church’s real name is “Santo Domingo de Guzmán” and that it was built about 70 years ago.

It features beautiful Gothic architecture that catches the eye both on its façade and in every corner of its interior. Behind the high altar, an impressive fresco is visible, depicting, in the foreground, the Last Supper and the crucifixion of the Lord.

The church is administered by the Dominican friars, who have lived there since its construction and keep it in impeccable condition, despite the passage of time.

The image of the angel, with his hands clasped in prayer and his gaze fixed ahead, is undoubtedly the hallmark of this church, a symbol of the faith of all the people who live in this densely populated area of Táchira state.

I also got to know, albeit briefly, an area called “Lomas del Viento,” which is practically a mountain within the city, where people go to relax and leave behind the stress of urban areas.

It’s like a small green lung that supplies oxygen to the entire city. I was told there that further on there is a small waterfall called “El Chorro del Indio,” but since I was just passing through, I wasn’t able to see it.

The city of San Cristóbal is a peaceful place with a very pleasant climate, where tourists can visit various sites of interest or simply enjoy the natural Andean landscapes that this beautiful country has given us and that we must strive to preserve.

I hope to visit this city again, but this time with more time, to explore it more thoroughly and thus enjoy all it has to offer.

Un vuelo rasante por la ciudad de San Cristóbal

Saludos estimados amigos de la comunidad viajera de hive, les deseo lo mejor en este comienzo de la semana.

Esta vez les traigo imágenes de un viaje de negocios que hice a la ciudad de San Cristóbal y aproveché para tomar algunas fotos de los sitios que visité en mi corto recorrido.

Sali de Barquisimeto en avión y llegué al aeropuerto de San Antonio y me pareció pequeño pero bastante acogedor. Tiene muchas aerolíneas asociadas y cuenta con todos los servicios incluyendo un pequeño restaurante.

En el poco tiempo que estuve en el aeropuerto, llamó mi atención un perro que llevaba una chaqueta con el letrero "piloto-aeropuerto". Es una mascota del aeropuerto y le gusta jugar con las botellas vacías de agua y si te sientas y dejas el agua en el piso, el perro se la lleva y se pone a jugar con ella.

Desde San Antonio hasta San Cristóbal hay aproximadamente 40 minutos por carretera. El paisaje es muy agradable, con fresco clima y abundante vegetación.

Una vez en San Cristóbal, tuve la oportunidad de entrar a una iglesia conocida como "iglesia del angel", llamada así porque en su fachada aparece una escultura de un ángel de gran tamaño en actitud de oración.

Este templo está ubicado en el sector "Banco Obrero", en una céntrica zona de la ciudad. Luego me enteré que el verdadero nombre del templo es "Santo Domingo de Guzmán" y tiene alrededor de 70 años de construido.

Tiene una bonita arquitectura de estilo gótico que llama la atención tanto en su fachada, como en cada rincón de su parte interna. Detrás del altar mayor se deja ver un impresionante fresco donde se escenifican, en primer plano, la última cena y la crucifixión del Señor.

El templo es administrado por los padres de la orden dominicos quienes la habitan desde su construcción y lo mantienen impecable, a pesar del paso de los años.

La imagen del ángel, con sus manos unidas en postura de oración y su mirada al frente, es sin duda la carta de presentación de esta iglesia, símbolo de la fe de todas las personas que habitan este populoso sector del estado Tachira.

Conocí también, aunque someramente, un sector llamado "lomas del viento" que es prácticamente una montaña dentro de la ciudad, donde las personas asisten para relajarse y dejar atrás el estrés que producen las áreas urbanizadas.

Es como un pequeño pulmón vegetal que suministra oxígeno a toda la ciudad. Me informaron allí que más adelante existe una pequeña cascada que llaman "el chorro del indio", pero como iba de paso no pude conocerla.

La ciudad de San Cristóbal es un lugar tranquilo de clima muy agradable, donde los turistas pueden visitar varios sitios de interés o simplemente disfrutar de los paisajes naturales andinos que este hermoso país nos ha regalado y que debemos esforzarnos por mantener.

Espero visitar nuevamente esta ciudad, pero esta vez con más tiempo, para recorrerla con mayor detenimiento y así disfrutar de sus bondades.
