En esta oportunidad les quiero hablar de lo importante que es reemplazar a tiempo el silenciador y el tubo de escape de tu vehículo.

Recently I was feeling the car a metallic sound every time it moved and especially when it fell into a pothole.

At first I didn't pay much attention to it, but then I had to check the car from underneath and I didn't see anything strange, until I happened to move the muffler. That's when I realized that it sounded like something inside was detached.

I decided to have it checked and one Saturday I took it early to the people who know about mufflers and exhaust pipes and with a simple inspection they corroborated that the muffler was clogged and that it should be replaced, not only because of the noise it generated when driving but also because of other important factors that I will list below:

Hace poco tiempo le estaba sintiendo al carro un sonido metálico cada vez que se desplazaba y sobretodo cuando caía en un bache.
Al principio no le presté mucha atención, pero después tuve que revisar el carro por debajo y no le vi nada extraño, hasta que se me ocurrió moverle el silenciador. Fue allí donde me dí cuenta que sonaba como si algo en su interior estuviese desprendido.
Me dispuse a mandarlo a revisar y un sábado se lo llevé temprano a la gente que sabe de silenciadores y tubos de escape y con una simple inspección me corroboraron que el silenciador estaba tapado y que debía ser reemplazado, no sólo por el ruido que generaba al circular sino por otros factores importantes que les enumero a continuación:

• A clogged exhaust pipe decreases the vehicle's power and performance. This is similar to our excretory system: if we do not evacuate properly, our brain and our whole organism will function poorly.

• Poor distribution of the gases expelled by the vehicle's engine, which causes soot and moisture to accumulate and eventually tend to corrode the entire exhaust branch.

• Increased fuel consumption. When working forced, the engine requires more effort and more fuel burned to do the job.

• Production of annoying noises. This is precisely the function of the muffler: to isolate the noise produced by the gases passing through the exhaust.

• Producción de ruidos molestos. Esta precisamente es la función del silenciador: aislar el ruido que producen los gases al pasar por el escape.

For all these reasons, I preferred to invest in a new muffler, of course it is a generic muffler because the original one is very expensive, but with a little care it can last a year or more, depending on the conditions of use of the vehicle.

When they took the muffler down they showed me that it was full of soot and was starting to corrode.

Cuando bajaron el silenciador me mostraron que estaba lleno de hollín y ya empezaba a corroerse.

El costo del silenciador nuevo fue de 50$ incluyendo la instalación y tardé aproximadamente una hora en solucionar el problema.
Al salir del negocio sentí una gran alivio y desahogo del motor y había desaparecido el ruido, el carro se sentía con mas potencia y con una conducción muy suave.
Debemos estar pendientes de cualquier sonido raro que se le sienta por debajo, pues puede ser una rotura de tubo de escape o algun problema con el silenciador.
Hasta aquí mi experiencia con este sencillo pero vital mantenimiento de mi vehículo, espero les sirva algún día.
