Strolling Through Plaza Venezuela in Caracas [ENG/ESP]

Strolling Through Plaza Venezuela in Caracas [ENG/ESP]

Greetings, fellow walkers in this @wednesdaywalk community! I’m back here with you again to share some photos of the city of Caracas.

Just three days before the catastrophe that shook and plunged Venezuelans into mourning, I was visiting Caracas, Venezuela, to fulfill some commitments in the capital.

During my short stay, I had the opportunity to take a brief walk through Plaza Venezuela and capture images of the streets and avenues surrounding it.

It’s a shame that, a few days later, some areas were seriously affected by the devastating earthquake that occurred last Wednesday.

On that occasion, I passed by the La Previsora Tower, an office building with a truncated pyramid-shaped facade that houses a restaurant in the basement.

Next to it stands the Lincoln Tower, another office building that holds special significance for me, as that’s where I started my career as an engineer in the sales and consulting division for PVC pipes. It’s easily recognizable because it’s a rectangular, blue-and-gray building with fewer stories than the other towers surrounding it.

There were few people on the street because it was early, and I had gone down from the hotel to buy breakfast; that’s why the streets look so empty—something not very common in the capital. At that hour, I found several stalls selling pastries and coffee, which were just right for my breakfast.

I walked to the beginning of Sabana Grande Boulevard, a special place to walk and shop without worrying about traffic, since it has only cobblestone-paved walkways surrounded by various shops.

Caracas is a great city to visit and enjoy because it has many wonderful attractions; however, I’m not drawn to the pace of life in the capital. For that reason, I wouldn’t trade the peace and quiet of my Barquisimeto for a life in the capital.

That concludes this brief stroll through the avenues and buildings of this great city; I hope to see you again soon.

Blessings to all.

You came to Caracas without letting me know 💔 It would have been great to say hello my brother... I think I’ll be passing by Plaza Venezuela today; I heard it took a heavy hit, though central Caracas is getting cleaner by the day—even if the scars on the roofs and facades remain. You took some really beautiful photos here; I'm glad you made the most of your time 🙏 I hope you all stayed safe in Lara during that terrible afternoon of the earthquakes...

I was only there for a weekend, taking care of some business. How did you all experience this tragedy? I understand that La Guaira was hit the hardest.

Saludos

Minutes after the earthquake on your city, news of a large scale earthquake spread throughout the world, including in my country, Indonesia. I am deeply saddened by the disaster in Venezuela. I hope the government can quickly address the situation, both in terms of the phycical condition of the buildings and the people affected by the earthquake. My God bless. Thank you @gpache. Have a great day. Greetings.
