Hotline Miami is a cult classic that’s been on the market since 2012; it’s undoubtedly very entertaining and a great challenge for those who enjoy a tough game to put their skills to the test.
In the game, you play as a hired thug whose mission seems to be to take down the Russian mafia, and to do so, you have to complete a series of missions.
I found this game on the Xbox Store at a great price, so I bought it without hesitation, along with its sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, which I’m sure I’ll enjoy just as much as this one.
The first thing I want to mention is that I’d been looking forward to this game for a long time, and it was on my wish list in my Xbox account. So when I got the notification, I went right out and bought it. But the funny thing is that I paid for it with Xbox Game Rewards points—Xbox’s loyalty program—which gave me a little over 8 USD to spend in the store, and this was one of the games I managed to get.
Hotline Miami es un juego de culto que desde el 2012 está en el mercado, es sin lugar a duda muy entretenido y un gran reto para los que les gusta la dificultad para poner a prueba sus habilidades.
En el juego das vida a un matón a sueldo que parece tener como misión acabar con la mafia rusa, para eso tienes que ir resolviendo una serie de misiones.
Este juego lo he encontrado en la tienda Xbox en un gran precio así que sin dudarlo lo he adquirido al igual que su segunda entregas Hotline Miami 2 Wrong number el cual también seguramente me gustará al igual que este.
Lo primero que quiero comentar es que este juego le tenía ganas desde hace mucho tiempo y estaba en mi lista de deseos en mi cuenta de Xbox, así que al llegarme la notificación me fui de una a comprarlo, pero lo curioso es que lo he pagado con puntos de Xbox Game ewards el programa de fidelidad de Xbox que me ha dado poco mas de 8 USD para gastar en la tienda y este fue uno de los que me apañe.
Review
First of all, I want to clarify that I hadn’t had the chance to play this game because I’ve always been a console gamer, even though I own a PC. So this is the version released in 2023—the port made for the Xbox Series X/S—and I think it must be more polished in terms of graphics and colors.
The gameplay is basically a beat ’em up, with the twist that the camera is from a bird’s-eye view—something I really liked—but what truly captivated me was the music and the effects when performing finishing moves. It has to be said: it’s very violent, and I don’t recommend it for sensitive players, as there’s a lot of bloodshed.
As for the controls, they’re very basic, though not that easy to get used to. The aiming mechanism is a bit complicated because it involves rotating your attack reticle using the controller’s triggers—which, at least for me, took some time to get used to.
On the other hand, I’ve read that the game has 15 levels, which makes it relatively long—especially when you consider that you’ll get stuck on some levels, since, as I mentioned, the difficulty is something to keep in mind; it’s tough.
Antes que nada quiero aclarar que yo no había tenido oportunidad de jugar este titulo pues toda la vida fui de consolas a pesar de tener PC, así que este juego es de la versión que sacaron en 2023 en el port que se hizo para las versiones de Xbox series X/S así que creo que debe de estar mas pulido en calidad de gráficos y colores.
El modo de juego es básicamente un Beat'em up con la variante que la cámara es aérea algo que me ha gustado pero lo que me fascinó es la música y los efectos al hacer las ejecuciones hay que decirlo, es muy violento y no lo recomiendo para personas sensibles pues hay mucho derramamiento de sangre.
En cuanto los controles son muy básicos aunque no tan fácil de acostumbrarse a ellos, pues la forma de apuntar es un poco complicada porque se enfoca en hacer girar tu mira de ataque con los gatillos del control lo que por lo menos a mi me ha tomado tiempo acostumbrarme.
Por otro lado he leído que el juego consta de 15 niveles lo que lo hace relativamente largo si tomas en cuenta que en algunos niveles te atorarás pues como mencioné la dificultad es algo a tomar en cuenta, es difícil.

Since it’s an indie game, I hadn’t really paid much attention to it—I didn’t even know it existed until it was ported to Xbox Series—but it’s definitely a gem.
Personally, I really like games aimed at a mature audience; this one appears to be rated for players 16 and older, though I’d honestly rate it 18+ because it does feature a lot of on-screen violence. Aside from that, it’s very entertaining and super challenging—highly recommended if you want to take advantage of those summer sales on Steam or Xbox.

Al ser una juego indie, la verdad es que no le había puesto atención porque me enteré de su existencia hasta que lo portearon a Xbox Series, sin duda es una joya.
A mi en lo personal me gustan mucho los juegos que están dirigidos a un publico mayor este al parecer es apto para jugadores a partir de los 16 años aunque yo sinceramente le pondría un +18 porque si despliega mucha violencia en pantalla, fuera de eso es muy entretenido y super desafiante, altamente recomendable para aprovechar esas ofertas de verano en Steam o en Xbox.
