Damages fake news can cause

Happy weekend

It's Friday today and the final edition of the @hivelearners weekly prompt.

Fake news is something that occurs largely on Social Media handles.
Bloggers, newspapers, radio stations, and even occasionally TV stations may disseminate fake news. Sometimes it's not their fault the person who delivered them the news may not be sure himself.

Some people have even experience heart attack or hight blood pressure hearing fake mews without confirmation especially when it has to do with bad news.

Another reason why bloggers may carry fake news is that they want to trend and have greater engagement. Sometime people like gossip news more than the original news.
It might be risky carrying fake news since you can be fined for it. Before conveying any news it is necessary to perform an adequate investigation before revealing it, and before you share any news it's ideal to verify at least 3 different news blogs for confirmation.

When I was in school one Monday morning our Course Rep wrote in our Whatsapp group that early that morning our Lecturer phoned him that we have an exam by 8:00 and that it was obligatory or else if you miss the test, you would fail.
I woke up at about 7:00 am, I instantly ran to the Bathroom to take my bath. That day, we didn't have morning Classes thus I felt peaceful and didn't wake early.

When I read the message I instantly called my friends who weren't on Whatsapp and also others who haven't seen the message. I have to make them aware so they didn't miss the test too.

Running to school, I didn't even have to eat in the morning since the Lecturer he mentioned was a strict one. He always told us that he won't mention the day he will give his test and that we should be always prepared.
I had to take our school shuttle simply to get there fast.

Getting to School staying 30mins-1hour, we didn't see the lecturer. The class was filled up with my course mate ready to write the test.
Around 9:00 am our course Rep told us that it was all fake news, he used that medium to bring us out of our houses. We had our departmental clean-up because external supervisors were coming to the department and if he had posted that many of us if not all will not come.

We were very angry but no one can beat him because indirectly he serving the school management. Many people left upon hearing it and some were happy because we didn't prepare to write any test.

I was too angry because I haven't eaten and the rush I took to school. But then I just decided to stay to help clean the department since I was already in school, and I should assist them.

Thank you for reading

This is just so crazy to me, how can you go out there and say sth you are not sure of at all and you start making others panic and before you know it, it spreads like a wildfire and in your own case see how you all were made to sit and wait for a lecturer all because of a fake info while trying to make u guys work lolz... it's crazy and and funny..

I imagine how you guys would have want to beat the hell out of him lolz 😂🤣🤣 this was indeed crazy 😧😂😂

(Edited)

Bloggers nowadays see fake news as a means to generate traffic for themselves. They don't Even care about its negative effects.

Lol. I've actually experienced something like that, but it was in high school. No one would've come if he had said you should come for cleaning. But he shouldn't have sif it like that😂😂😂.

Thanks for sharing.

There's competition in the blogging so that's why they use fake news to get more attention

Hahahahha! 🤣 , Sorry for laughing but this article just reminded me of a similar but funny experience I had in school. That day I came to school very early, after some minutes I saw my course mates running to and fro in the school everywhere became so busy, students were just trooping in , some on bikes, running towards a particular hall. I became confused and I joined them, it was right in the hall I discovered that someone posted on WhatsApp that we have a test that morning and that anyone who fails the test should expect an automatic carry over. I was surprise I didn't even hear about it. Meanwhile it was fake news, no lecturer came. Students had to return home to take their bath. That day was a memorable one. Fake news always get people injured, just imagine the stress of leaving home to school without preparation. I pity those on off camp

That moment you have to waste transport fare to school, something you could just trek and save your moment just because your course rep or someone gave a fake news and there's nothing you can do to them but to hiss and walk back home 😬😅😅😅
Many times I have tasted such news and wasted tfare but all is gone now.

These bloggers, one reason is to generate traffic to their blogs but is that the way actually?

But it's really annoying but that was the only way to bring us out. He knows his Course mates and how hard it can be 🤣

Hehe... That was a neat trick of his, but he went about it the wrong way. Although I understand his reason for doing so.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
