Lessons i Learnt Being Away from Home
From Nursery school until high school, I lived with my parents. I didn't attend a boarding school or stayed with any Relative. The only time I wanted to leave for the boarding home, I became sick so my parents advised me to attend day school.
The first time I left home was in Year 1. After I received admission I had to depart for school. That day I felt like crying since the university was a universe of its own.
It was a challenging one as I didn't have any experience living with individuals I don't know.
My parents made sure I lived at the hostel since it was cheaper and so I could know my way around the school before living outside school.
The first time at the hostel was memorable. I grew skinny since I wasn't eating well. In my school, cooking wasn't permitted in the dormitory thus I did more junk. I missed eating to my delight.
Also living with individuals with diverse characters and attitudes was another challenge. They are some females who would try to entice you to see how you respond.
Lessons I Learnt:
Independence
This is one thing leaving home taught me. I learned to be on my own, make choices on my own, and live a responsible life that my parents have taught me. I can recall some times I would be sick but I would want to remain calm and get drugs for myself so my parents won't be disturbed.
Contentment
I acquired this virtue when I got admission also. No matter what my parents pay for my monthly allowance I don't let what I don't have get into me. There I observed what girls do for money. Funny enough it didn't move me.
Money Management
Leaving home taught me to handle my resources and money properly. Extravagant living was distant from me. I could compute what I use weekly and monthly and certainly will have some savings for Emergencies.

Hello, It is healthy when girls leave their homes with fears of living alone and maintain home education and fend for themselves without having to resort to activities that leave sequelae.
Very brave and your learning is worth a lot. You value more what you have.
When parents teach us, leaving home if for us to practice what we have learnt, that's where maturity plays in

Yeah... that is one thing the hostel is known for. You get to live with people of different characters and backgrounds and also try to find a common ground. It helps in teaching us how to relate with others in order to move forward.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
