Splinterlands: The Dragon Splinter - A Guide for New Player's on the Most Unique Splinter in the Game
(Edited)
Of all the Splinters in the world
of Splinterlands, the Dragon Splinter is by far the most unique. It offers abilities and attacks from nearly every possible category, can be incorporated into most tactics and strategies, and lets you access more cards than your basic Splinters (Fire, Earth, Life, Water, and Death) normally allow, without playing any Neutrals. If the rules exclude Neutral cards, or your Daily Quest requires you to get 3 wins without Neutrals, the Dragon splinter is the perfect option to get some extra power, abilities, and choices out of your deck. I personally love playing with the Dragons, and figured I'd make a little walkthrough for new players about how to use the Splinter, and some of my favorite/most used cards from it. Let's get into it!
As you may have noticed in your time playing, if you select one of
the five basic Splinters, Fire, Water, Earth, Life and Death, you will not see any of your Dragon cards. In order to access them, you must first select a Dragon summoner. If you're a brand new player, you will have access to the summoner to the left, Drake of Arnak. If you choose him as your initial summoner, you will then be prompted to select another Splinter, on top of which you will be able to add Dragon cards. This is what makes the Dragon splinter so unique; you can incorporate it into other decks you have built with other splinters, and use it to augment these decks with more abilities and damage. If you are interested in buying other summoners for the Dragon splinter, there are a number of them, with varying mana costs, and buffs/abilities. I personally love Selenia Sky; she costs a mere 3 mana, and allows you to get +1 ranged damage. I have a lot of ranged heavy decks, particularly my Water deck, so this is very helpful. The Water summoner would give me +1 magic, which wouldn't help with my ranged cards, so Selenia is a great alternate choice. Keep in mind, if you have a quest for a Splinter that is not Dragon, IE: Earth, you must use an Earth summoner; playing a Dragon summoner with an Earth deck will not count for the quests.
The Dragon splinter has its own quest you can receive.
Two of my favorite and most used
Dragon Splinter cards are pictured above: the Fire Spitter and the Black Dragon. The Fire Spitter has a reasonably high speed, at 4, flying and dodge, allowing it to dodge quite a few attacks and handle the Snipe position often. The Black Dragon is a card I don't see played against me that often, but one I personally love to use. The Life Leech ability allows it to do damage to an opponent, and then increase its own health, so after a few turns, that small 4 health can grow quite a bit. As with many of the Dragons, it has flying, so it can avoid the health penalties in the Earthquake ruleset, which can definitely make or break a game. Pictured at the top of the page is the Manticore, another Dragon card I use often; it has the Reach ability, so it can attack the enemy's tank from the 2nd position. Again, it has flying, and also has Thorns, so when my tank dies, it can jump into that position and deal some extra damage against any Melee attacks.

I hope so too! glad you found it useful.
Yes sir! So many possibilities.
I love the dragon/earth combo.
My core team is this...any extra mana gets put into tank, healing, and defense.
Long live Daria Dragonscale!!
I love Daria too, sometimes the extra +1 mana is difficult, but I still love using her. Getting extra melee out of Water is fun, get that Kraken attackin'!
