My old, new tunes. Or should that be new, old tunes? Nearly new? Vintage?

Whatever I call them, I have around 50 tunes in what I could grandly call my back catalogue. In an earlier post I made the point that for small artists like me, as our tunes (good though some of them may be) never really reach a lot of ears, they are always in a bit of a 'new' state - there's still lots of folk who will be hearing tunes for the first time.

ATuneADayForFluteBook11000.jpgI used this book when I was at school.

With this in mind, earlier this year I did a 'Tune a Day' where I shared all my tunes on social media, one a day, starting from the first release back in 1999, and working though them. I only did one post a day, so as not to appear to spam folk - I didn't want to put anyone off.

Gonna write a classic.

So, I have a coupe of releases coming up over the next couple of weeks, but then nothing planned. I'm getting a real itch to do something a bit longer form - a long EP, maybe even an albums worth - with a bit of a unifying style across the piece. Which is going to take me time. I'm not really saying it'll be a classic. And I won't be writing it in my attic. But I am going to work hard on it.

Fade away and radiate

However, it's another truism that it is easy for smaller artists to quickly drop off the radar. We have a very small number of people who would probably listen pretty regularly (thanks you, dear constant listeners 😁), but a lot of out plays comes from folk clicking though opportunistic posts. I see then when I release as I think in the week or two following a release I can legitimately chuck a number of posts out about the release without it feeling too spammy.

Don't you forget about me

So if I'm going to be going a bit quiet on the release front while I get my act together and seduce my muse into delivering the goods, I could do with a way of keeping gribblytunes in the back of folks minds, with an opportunity for some to continue to have a listen now and again with a single click from their feeds. And doing another Tune A Day fits rather well, I think. (In reality it may end up being a bit more sporadic, with the odd day skipped for various reasons, but mainly a tune a day)

Follow you, follow me

So this is just a little heads up for those that may be interested. Keep an eye out for my tunes, and please give them a listen as they pop up.
And then, if you like them, one of the best ways you can help indie musicians like me - should you want to - is to share our music.
Upvoting & reblogging in the hive.blog is lovely. Posting on Twitter and in Facebook groups is great, liking and sharing anywhere is super, and liking tunes & following artists on Spotify, YouTube and other streaming services all help to feed the algorithm and raises the chance of our stuff being noticed and seen by others. Those little 2 second clicks can mean a lot to us...

Thanks!
