Mud sucked at the old farmer's boots as he trudged on. Head down, cap tipped against the orange sunset, he mused on the thick clay soil that sustains his farm and life, that slows his way home and that he will, in time, be laid to rest in.

I've entered a couple previously (won one!), but will try do do more. It's fun!
It's harder than it looks! I've written a number of them. I love the meaning to drop into the reader's mind on the last word. Yours did that for me, but what happened instead of meaning dropping is was that it dropped me off a cliff into the meaning of life! Very rich story, simply and tidily told. Love it, I really do.
