We sit in the wilderness, held under the stars
So far from the cities, we can hear no cars
The only sounds that surround us are made by the breeze
I reach for your hand, but your fingers are keys

With a palm full of metal, I’m alone once again
The scenery has shifted, returning me to where I’ve been
I’m on the beach in Alabama, and clams peak through the sand
I gather them up, filling a metal pan

This time I have a rental here, my company has been replaced
I’m with a gob of vaguely familiar people, but not one has a face
I make chowder regardless, and dish out steaming bowls
Before I can eat, I notice the living room wall is filled with holes

I go up to one and peer through it, it opens towards the sea
Out there I see a dozen mermaids, calling out to me
I wander outside to hear them, but I find a different kind of terrain
I’m in the foothills of a mountain, and it looks like it will rain

💚💚💚

I wander into a bar that transcends time, old Colorado saloon
Talk floats over from the corner, a group discussing an adventure in the dunes
I order whiskey as the clouds open up, and I happen to hear
“We can’t handle a behemoth!” then one comes over for a pitcher of beer

I suddenly know that I’m the best archer in the west
Considering the potential pay out, I ask about their quest
I’m not too keen on the details, but the bounty is fat
They invite me along, and that is that

Next thing I know I’m stringing arrow after arrow at this massive beast
It’s nearly 10 feet tall, with hanging claws and two rows of teeth, at least
I shoot from a hill with one other bloke
A wizard beside us lobs fireballs, obscuring our view with smoke
It seemed it was over, and the men fighting below would die
When I landed an arrow right in that suckers eye

We headed to a castle, leaving droplets of red
As we took turns lugging along the severed behemoth head
Our pack horse was brown, the forest was dense
When we suddenly came to a wire fence

Beyond, I saw you disappear into a city built like a maze
I watched in shock as it formed before me, my mind was in a haze
Loot forgotten, I hopped the gate to run down curving streets
A lady sold bumblebees on string, and parents bought them for their kids as treats

I’m thoroughly lost when I turn the corner to a familiar set of bricks
I go inside and a doctor reviews a stack of blurry X-ray pics
Right, I’m having surgery today, I can’t believe that I forgot
Now I’m lying on the table, and he administers a numbing shot

I wake up in recovery, but I’m pretty sure I died
Small windows line the room, showing empty space outside
I find my my clothes, my bravery, my wit
I want to gaze out of the windows, but somehow forget

💚💚💚

My feet find the hallway, the lighting is dim
Along green tiles, I realize it’s my highschool I’m in
I decide to skip class, go down to the lake
Sneaking out a side door, I hope to give security a shake
A lone white van patrols for the truant, but I have a route
I jump through backyards, that’s what being a teen is about

Now I walk familiar streets that are missing pieces and parts
Like someone drew my hometown, but stripped away it’s heart
I find the woods and walk along, there’s gnomes beneath the trees
I pass a line of hiking dwarves, and each one carries skis

Music drifts along the wind, it’s every song we’ve shared
I shake off decades of experience that still left me unprepared
Now the trees thin out, my heart gets heavy. I’m walking far too fast
I want to see the future, but I’m held down in the past

Ahead there is a boardwalk, built on water that’s crystal clear
Reflected on its surface, I see all my hopes and fears
Below them are answers to every question that I ask
I cup the water in my hands, guzzling down pure facts
Before I can drink enough info to have knowledge supreme
My alarm clock goes off rudely, and I’m torn from my dream

This is my response to this week's prompt from Blockchain Poets, it was all a dream.

All photos are my own, chosen somewhat randomly. The rainbow photo is special to me, because I didn't think it was possible to see the end of a rainbow. Although I didn't find a pot of gold, the experience was way nifty.

My dreams jump scenes a lot. It was a blast to try and capture some of their bizarre turns in this poem 😁 Cheers!

That's some serious talent you have to both remember your dream and then retell it as a rhyming poem! @grindan ❤❤❤

Thank you so much!! 🤗💕

I often remember a few really vivid segments of my dreams, even weeks after I have them... but I lose the context most times haha! It was fun to try and string some together 😁

Pretty good Fall, yep. More indoor time than outdoor time compared to the Good Old Summertime. But I have more time for working on MetaRobots and now I have the @tokenfaucet project that keeps me busy.

Hope you're well, always wishing you the best! :)

Woah! A whole lot of scenery and one I know all too well to which I partook of one too many times. Beautifully written and understood 💕

I enjoyed the folksy rhythm of this poem. While it has an earthy feel to it, the elements of magic realism make it heavenly:

A lady sold bumblebees on string, and parents bought them for their kids as treats

Great piece!

Your poem? I guess it's like that saying? "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Much like your words can mean many things, by many different people. I see similar dreams... memories... where others might just say, "Nice Poem!". But I do agree... an outstanding job on this... ever thought about being a writer?

Huh, gee whiz Wes... I don't know if I have it in me my friend. A writer you say? Hmmmm

I hope the LUV bot recovers from it's illness, it is terribly sad when robots get sick!
