RANDOMNESS in Valdolid , Yucatan.

So let us begin being random. I said it would be random as we are starting at Tulum on the way to Valdolid,

I just thought I would throw these guys in, crazy men, spinning fast.

Crazy man running fast back to the bus when they started walking round with their hands open for loose change. My excuse? I had no change.

Valdolid says the tour books is the third largest city in The Yucatan, with a population of just under 60k. It has predominantly Spanish colonial architecture.

Thankfully it was only an overnight stop here so as to visit Chichén Itzá. I say thankfully as there was not a lot to see or do in the city. Hence some randomness for a change. Oh and a church.

San Servacio Church

It is situated just off the main square and originally built in 1545.

In 1705 it was demolished on the orders of Bishop Pedro de los Rios Reyes, due to the desecration, in the “Crime of Mayors.” A political uprising a couple of years earlier

It was restored in 1706, with a twist; most churches in The Yucatan are built with their altar facing Rome, as punishment for the desecration however the altar was re instated on a N-S axis
