San Ignacio. Belize. got to love it.

Taking a stroll from our over-night weed friendly hotel through the town back vis the graveyard, quick shower and change then out on the lash tonight.

Not a lot to say about this one horse town, it was just an overnighter en route to caye caulker. A population of just under 25,000, is probably its most amazing fact. But ya still got to love these places, still got to follow the lens, otherwise why bother travelling? May as well stay in your own back garden

Some of the messages on the walls of the high school

You know, the type of glib slogans you see on office walls to attempt to motivate the tired and couldn't care less brigade.

Some people don't get it, as much as I loved my job, the prime motivator was salary, perks, and being totally in control of my work life balance. Not some fucking ideology that we come to work for the benefit of the multi millionaire owners.

_DSC9035.jpeg

.......and the "hey look at us, aren't we trendy" corporate bollox. dreamt up by some gen z fool in personnel, straight out of Uni. never had a job in their lives and thinking they change the world ( or was it just my workplace?). Oops sorry HR, diversity inclusion and whatever else is the current buzz word for the quango that is on trend.

See, when I have not a lot to say about a place I go off on one, don't mind me venting my spleen.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

In the 1930's the Nationalist Socialist party of Germany adopted the swastika, the word comes from Sanskrit svastika, and means “good fortune” or “well-being. Still widely seen as spiritual and as a symbol of luck not only on the subcontinent but also europe too, within certain religious groups.

Street Art

Just an area with big murals, most carrying messages of hope and love from Belize

People Watching

A coffee shop, a queue. Considering that Belize (british Honduras) is a former colony of the imperialist, expansionist, enslaving english, it is heartening to see that the current locals do not abide by the rules that the english are so anal about. ( queuing rule #3 do not queue across a road, do not obstruct the highway.)

On the lash

Some of us ventured into the back streets after dinner, thought it would be good to mix with the locals, it wasn't a full on bar crawl due to there not being many bars.

IMG_6904.jpeg

Eventually ending up in a bar with a couple of local guys banging away on some bongoes.

IMG_6907.jpeg

IMG_6908.jpeg

Not sure if it was the beer, or the local "tobacco" but I seemed to think at the time, they were pretty damned good.

IMG_6906.jpeg

I don't do selfies but the mood was mellow and one of the gals in the gang was snapping away on her phone.......................

.........FUCKING HELL that was close.

City of Belize looks tired, old in some cases needs a lick of paint, yet I do note it is clean!

Buildings down main street with balconies definitely indicate times when this must have been a grand place to stay.

Grindle, you don't have much to say about that place. Hahaha... what a good way to say so much. As always, enjoying your good eye.

Street art has so many good messages.
Hugs.
