I MOVED! and Bought a Homestead
I recently turned my daydream into a reality—I bought a farm. I have been longing to move out of the city and onto a piece of land to grow my own food to become self-sufficient. Of course, you don’t need a farm to do this, but I longed to be tucked away on a chunk of land with space for me and my puppy to roam. Instead of waking up to the sound of sirens and slamming car doors, I wake up to the moos of cows and doodling chickens at the sun peaking over the mountains—a total blessing.
A while ago, I began to hope that a farm would be in my future. I never realized that it would be dropped onto my doorstep so soon. I figured I would have to wait about 5-10 years before an opportunity popped up, but I was completely surprised when this door popped open and I was able to purchase a farm sooner than expected.
My farm is filled with sprawling fields, a variety of fruit trees, farm buildings, a garden area, and an old farmhouse which needs some desperate TLC. I’ve began working on my old farmhouse by painting the pantry—it was a disaster with old food stains and lined with a color that just looked like it smelled. I bought the brightest white paint and went to town the first two days repainting my pantry. I began landscaping the sides of my house—currently, the grass goes right up to the house which makes easy access for bugs. I plan to rock around the house to keep bugs at bay. A severely cracked cement patio has been partially sealed. My list of to-dos gets longer and longer every day!
I am grateful for this opportunity to be able to move on to another adventure in my life and embrace a different way of iife!

This is quite a courageous move and I admire you for that. Changing your lifestyle is not easy, but following the dream and making it a reality is something we should all be inspired by.

It was a huge change. Someone said on the day I moved "We only grow when we are out of our comfort zone" which really stuck with me and is so true. It's a challenge and much to learn but loving every moment of it.
