When I watched Tere Ishk Mein, I realized it wasn’t just an ordinary love story It’s a story that blends love heartbreak anger regret change and destiny

SHANKAR AND MUKTI – WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

The story introduces us to Shankar Gurukkal a difficult hot tempered college student and leader of the student union
On the other side is Mukti Beniwal, a psychology researcher She wants to know if a person with violent tendencies can truly change
So,Mukti chooses Shankar as the subject of her doctoral (Ph.D) research She tries to understand his behavior and the reasons behind his anger
But as they spend more time together something she hadn’t anticipated happens

SHANKAR’S LOVE BECOMES REAL

Shankar realizes that his feelings aren’t just a passing phase
He confesses to Mukti that he truly loves her But Mukti is afraid of his temperament and the intense way he expresses his feelings
When Mukti’s research proves successful Shankar hopes their relationship will move to the next level
But things don’t go as he’d hoped
Mukti’s father imposes a strict condition on Shankar if he wants to marry Mukti he must first pass the UPSC exam
Shankar decides to take on this challenge

THREE YEARS LATER

Shankar devotes himself entirely to preparing for the UPSC.
While he’s studying Mukti leaves for the United States
Shankar passes the first part of the exam and travels to where Mukti is thinking he’ll finally be reunited with the person he loves
But there he learns the most heartbreaking news

Mukti has decided to marry Jasjeet

Shankar feels as though the love he’s fought for over the years has just crumbled in an instant.

A LIFE-CHANGING DECISION

Grief and anger drive Shankar to make a serious mistake leading to his arrest
On top of that,his father,Raghav dies in an accident while trying to come to his aid
His father’s death becomes a turning point that completely changes Shankar’s life
He travels to Varanasi where he meets Murari who encourages him to turn his suffering into a source of strength to rebuild his life
Shankar then decides to pursue his father’s dream and joins the Indian Air Force

SHANKAR AND MUKTI – A SEPARATION THAT NEVER TRULY ENDS

The years go by.
Shankar becomes a pilot in the Air Force while Mukti becomes a psychologist and works with the armed forces
Even though they are apart, the memories of their former love never completely fade
Mukti marries Jasjeet a member of the Indian Navy
But her life is not easy She faces serious health problems and her condition gradually deteriorates

SEVEN YEARS LATER – THEY MEET AGAIN

The story jumps forward several years.
Shankar is now a Flight Lieutenant
One day he makes a decision that isn’t entirely in line with orders resulting in the suspension of his flying duties until his mental state is evaluated.
But the person in charge of that evaluation is the last person he ever imagined he’d see again

MUKTI

When they meet memories of the past immediately resurface
Love, anger hurt, and all the unanswered questions come flooding back

MUKTI’S SECRET

Mukti is now pregnant but her health is very fragile
She worries about what will happen to her child if her condition continues to deteriorate
She asks Shankar to promise that,if anything happens to her he’ll take care of the child.
Shankar promises her he won’t abandon her
Mukti also signs the documents allowing Shankar to return to active duty in the army

THE END – SHANKAR’S DECISION

When Shankar returns to active duty war breaks out
A ship carrying Indian soldiers including Jasjeet is attacked.
Shankar has a chance to save himself but he makes a courageous decision that puts his own life at risk
He flies his plane toward the enemy target to save the soldiers
The plane crashes into the target

Shankar appears to have lost his life on this mission

Meanwhile Mukti goes into labor Due to her extremely fragile health she dies during childbirth

WHY IS THIS STORY SO SAD?

What’s most painful isn’t just that they end up separated
What really hurts is that Shankar and Mukti loved each other but never managed to build a normal life together
At the beginning of the story Shankar expresses his love in an excessive way but by the end,he tries to transform that love into responsibility and sacrifice
Mukti also eventually comes to understand Shankar’s worth but time becomes their greatest enemy

For me Tere Ishk Mein is a film that offers

Deep love
Grief and sadness
Psychology and personal growth
The Air Force and war
Powerful music
Shankar and Mukti
A very moving ending

I particularly enjoyed Dhanush’s performance because he conveys Shankar’s anger love,and suffering with great intensity

Kriti Sanon also does a great job portraying Mukti especially in the emotionally charged scenes

TERE ISHK MEIN

I started the movie thinking I was watching a love story but I finished it reflecting on how love can change a person hurt them and sometimes become a responsibility for which someone is willing to sacrifice themselves

Shankar loved Mukti drifted away then years later fate brought them back together But when they finally had the chance to understand each other time became their greatest enemy
