Understanding Labor Day: A Tribute to Workers' Contributions and Rights

Today is 1st of the May and in India the 1st May is known for Labor day. In many countries the labor day is observed on 1st of May itself but in some countries its observed on first Monday of the September month. Labor day is also known as the International Workers Day and May day also. It's a day dedicated to honoring the contributions of workers and the labor movement.
If we look back into history them we will find that it originated in the late 19th century. This was the time when labor unions were fighting for the labor and demanding for the better working conditions, for fair wages for work, reasonable working hours. Durign1886 in Chicago, the workers were striking for eight hour workday. The protest become violet and took the life of several workers. After this incident the movement gained momentum and recognized as holiday worldwide.
The day is celebrate in the memory of American labor movement. Its to show the gratitude for the contribution and achievements of the American workers. The laborers are the back bone of any country and play a significant role in the development of the century, no nation can ignore their importance. We can not imagine the development we saw in today's world with out the hard work of their working people. They effect the society and the economy of the the country in many ways. You chose any sector from infrastructure growth to technology advancement, form social development to AI , their contribution is must. Many people think that in today time when we are in the era of AI and robotics, the importance of workers may become less but we can not overlook that some works can not be competed without the intervention of human.
When we say Labor it refers to the "collective workforce or the individuals who engage in physical or metal workforce to produce good or services." It encompasses all type of work like manual labor, skilled labor, or any other form which involved in the production.
The wages of labor depends on the various factors such as type of work, level of skill, type of industry, demand-supply dynamics etc. If I talked about the wages in India the wages ranges across different sectors and depends on various factors. The unskilled laborers earn low wages and earn very close to the minimum wages. Skilled laborers earn higher wages typically as compare to the unskilled laborers and mostly work in sector such as IT, engineering, healthcare, and finance. The wages varies significantly when compares between urban areas are rural areas. Wages in urban area are more compare to rural area as living cost in urban area is also high.
Minimum wages Act 1948, gives the power in the hands of state government to fix and revise the minimum wages for various categories of workers in India. The state revised the minimum wages revised periodically based on the factors like inflation, cost of living, and economic conditions. Each state publishes its minimum wage rates for different categories of workers and different labor department are responsible fir implementation of same.
Minimum wages for unskilled in Haryana state are approximately 410 India rupee per day and 10661 rupee per month. The skilled labor gets approximately 549 India rupee per day and 14287 rupee per month.
Labor Day is to celebrate the contributions of workers in the growth of society and well being of society. This is the day to recognize the efforts made by workers throughout history to improve working conditions, fundamental fair rights, reasonable working hours and secure fair wages.
Celebrating this day means honor to the labor force and also acknowledging the importance of their work in shaping the world we live in.

The only problem in the society is when one type of labor(physical) is considered inefrior to another(Mental labor). That is how doing household jobs, cleaning, gardening, etc are looked down as menial jobs.
When everybody does the minimum physical labor, thephysical labor will not be looked down.
