Red Out of Me

In red, I feel the fire burning inside me, the warmth of the looks that suffocate me, the passion for what I do right now. Lustfully thinking of everything that could have happened in this powerful place that fills me with security, strength and emotion.

The color red springs from me, like blood, shedding anger, malice and aggression, emptying my internality without being able to retain it. Red is my undoing but I rest in it.

-Step 1:

Let's start with a beautiful lady lying down, this time I didn't want to show boobs, so I decided to go for something more artistically interesting.

-Step 2:

In a new layer under the sketch, I set the base tones of the illustration, taking special care not to go outside the edges of the sketch when painting. I also set the void inside the girl.

-Step 3:

Now it is time to leave behind the pastel tones of the base color and go for something darker and start the loooong process of painting the fabric. For this you only need three shades of red, but knowing how to apply them to achieve volume in each sheet of fabric.

-Step 4:

For the background, I wanted something interesting beyond a black wall, so I opted for a renaissance style mural with beautiful winged babies, but in a fist vs. sword fight. And yes, I painted over the girl, but then used a cape mask to remove the leftover parts of the mural. Also the mural was not supposed to have too much prominence, so I added a layer in "multiply" mode to darken its illumination.

And of course not to forget the hands that hold the fabric, which was a lot of fun to do,'cause a friend literally gave me a hand to photograph it and have it as a reference.

-Step 5:

For both the wall and the floor I added textures to make them more interesting. I also corrected the lighting of the legs and the proportion of the lady's hands and one of her feet. I enlisted the help of @francisftlp, who pointed out which things didn't look quite right, because when you spend so much time looking at the same piece over and over again, you get used to the imperfections and overlook them, so it's always good to have a second look at your art. Thank you very much Miss Francis ✨
