Between Business and Coding

This term at university, I had the opportunity to dive into the world of Python programming. I was waiting for weeks to finally start the course. Coding seemed like an exhilarating experience, despite its inherent challenges. It was during this time that I found myself at a crossroads, having to choose between Business Administration and pursuing a career in programming. Initially, business appeared somewhat lackluster compared to the dynamic world of programming.

As the term started, I embarked on my coding journey, and the initial weeks were nothing short of enjoyable. Experimenting with code and witnessing the tangible results brought a sense of accomplishment. The idea of solving complex problems through logical thinking and creative solutions resonated with me. I love challenges but the ones that don't take a long time to be solved. However, as I delved deeper into the subject and wrote few assignments, I soon realized that coding was not just about fun and games.

Coding, as I discovered, presented its fair share of difficulties. While I have always embraced challenges, I quickly realized that mastering Python required a significant investment of time. Learning the intricacies of the language and honing my skills demanded countless hours of practice and experimentation. Although enjoyable, this commitment meant sacrificing my usual activities and even work engagements. Balancing these demands became a considerable challenge that required careful consideration.

After much contemplation as it is a very difficult decision for me, I made the decision to complete my studies in Business Administration. Yes, I loved Python and programming and really enjoyed writing few codes, but I found that my true passion lay in the realm of business. E-commerce, in particular, intrigued me, and I recognized that I already possessed valuable experience in this field. By pursuing my studies in Business Administration, with a specialization in e-commerce, I could leverage my existing knowledge and skills while carving a fulfilling career path.

While I am content with my decision and I finally chose a future career path, a tinge of sadness lingers. I cannot help but wonder what could have been if I had chosen to switch to programming. However, I reassure myself that I can always revisit this passion later in life, alongside my business endeavors. It is essential to embrace the opportunities that present themselves as everything around us keeps changing.

Recently, there have been significant advancements in AI that have created a sense of uncertainty regarding the future of programming and also other industries. This concern has been echoed by some programmers on YouTube. AI can quickly generate code, which is actually amazing and can be beneficial for us humans, but also led to questions about the role of human programmers in the near future. However, we must patiently wait and observe how the industry evolves in the upcoming months or even years.

My journey with Python has been a rollercoaster of excitement and challenges I would say! Fun coding and long nights writing assignments. Yet I am glad to have had the experience. I was excited about learning Python and I did. I will be having my final exam this week, so wish me luck! Although I ultimately decided to pursue my studies in Business Administration, I might still experiment with Python in my free time. I needs a lot of practice and I dont want to forget it. I will forever cherish the experiences and knowledge gained during my exploration of coding this term. It is a field that continues to captivate me, and I remain open to embracing it in the future. As I look ahead, I eagerly anticipate the unfolding of both my business endeavors and the dynamic world of programming, prepared to adapt and seize opportunities as they arise. And of course, I would like to hear your opinion about the topic if you are a programmer or interested in the subject.
