Battle Challenge: 🐉 Dragons 🐉

Battle Challenge Dragons.png

Hello dear Splinterlands Community.

This week's battle challenge is about dragon splinter. No specific card was given so we are free to just use the dragon splinter and go for it.

Stampede suggests there might be either Diemonshark or an Undead Rexx coming. With Counterspell I don't have to worry about magic that much, maybe one support card with a magic attack that brings a nice buff to the team, like Venari Wavesmith or similar. But with some health to my tank it won't harm me that much and kill itself off eventually.

Lineup

It is gold league with 32 mana cap. Quix is the (affordable) summoner of choice for modern battles, followed by the standard dragon tank Djinn Chwala. I paired with Water splinter for the healing and repair ability of Merdaali Guardian.

Mid range mana matches with water splinter call for Deeplurker as a strong opportunist and secondary tank while the Pelacor Bandit as a fast and flying sneaker can hit the back row and also provide protection exactly there.

From Dragon splinter we pair these up with Dhampir Infiltrator to help out the Pelacor Bandit and Whelp Herder to aid Deeplurker in opportunity hunt.

With the speed debuff from Quix I either gain an advantage or eliminate the buff given by Kelya, which I consider the most likely choice by my opponent.

By pairing up sneak and opportunity I can crack the armor given by Kelya and Venari Wavesmith with the first hit while the second hit on the same target does the damage to health.

Djinn Chwala will hopefully stand its ground supported by Merdali Guardians healing and repair ability.

Oh, that's new. Let us all give a warm welcome to Lux Vega, the newest Summoner in Splinterlands. Basically it's the Kelya buffs with additional health buff. The speed will be negated by Quix, the armor and health buff will stand.

The tank is Diemonshark, I suspected as much. Despite Counterspell there is a magic attack coming with Djinn Oshannus. Of course, the void ability will negate a normal magic reflection. Without amplify I will not do any damage back.

Tide Biter brings the reflection shield ability which will protect it against the thorns of Djinn Chwala.

I cannot blame the choice of Merdaali Guardian for tank healing and protection, I did the same.

Uraeus will try to sneak up on me and poison my back row.

Comparing tactics

While I spread my fire with opportunity and sneak my opponent concentrates on my tank with a little sneak bonus.

One more heavy hitter to my back row would have been devastating for me since I got a lot of low health back there without any armor. Deeplurker on the other side would have taken my back row one by one each round while I have to crack the armor first.

Did I get lucky or did I have a solid strategy? Feel free to leave your praise or criticism in the comments.

My Take on Dragons

Dragons are an interesting addition to the splinter selection. Especially the ability to team them up with another splinter allows for some great mix and variety to keep your opponent guessing what comes next.

Sadly the summoners are a bit expensive. Yet the Chaos Legion and Riftwatcher cards and above all the cheap reward cards bring great abilities for both high and low mana selections.

I love playing them and besides that, I think they have the best art work in the game.
