Oh, No. You Didn't. If You Hate Fat People, Please Fuck Off.  Many Thanks. Love, Harlow.

Today, I had my first really negative comment on an article I wrote here on Hive. I imagine it won't be the last, but what possesses some people? I realize that all sorts of trolls, lunatics, and psychopaths come out of the woodwork on a basically uncensored platform, but I still find myself wondering what the actual fuck is wrong with some people?

I don't mind when people disagree with me, but this was just mean and stupid:

My article was about friendship. I mentioned being fat because I am not ashamed of it and it is part of my reality. Some asshole wrote: "Sure everybody thinks fat people are stupid. If not why would they be fat?" How puerile and inflammatory, and for what? What joy does such a person get from writing a comment like that? How empty and meaningless that person's life must be if all they can do is write articles about how super human they think they are and negative comments on other people's articles?

I will never write anything on the internet that I wouldn't have the guts to say in person. In a world full of so much hatred, I try to be nice. I try not to retaliate when people say mean things. However, every once in a while, someone like this comes along who needs to be called out for his astonishing stupidity, bad behaviour, and lack of manners.

I have muted the person and I gave them my first non-accidental downvote. Previously, I only downvoted once and it was a result of bad clicking. I could only see that my downvote mana had gone down, but I couldn't find my accidental downvote to undo it, and I was even more of a newbie at the time.

Here is a good rule of thumb: if you don't have anything nice to say about someone's article, just shut up. To be honest I enjoy a healthy exchange of ideas, but, "If you are fat, you must be stupid," is just idiotic. It also proves a point I have often made that prejudice against fat people is one of the last acceptable prejudices.

I feel angry when anyone suggests their prejudice has to do with health. That is nonsense. A stranger does not give a flying fuck about my health. It is a convenient alibi for ugly beliefs.

Am I saying being fat is healthy? No. I am saying that healthy and unhealthy people come in all shapes and sizes. The only time you really hear people worrying for other people's health is when they want to be discriminatory and can't think of another angle.

Bottom line: I won't allow someone's nasty and very, very stupid comments to censor me. It is tempting to not want to write with honesty, but there are enough lies in the world as it is.

If you don't like my ideas and have an intelligent argument, that is absolutely welcome in my comments section. If you don't like fat people and/or you think we are all "stupid," I respectfully suggest that you please fuck off immediately. There is no room in my life or comments section for you.

(P.S. You will note that I don't usually use profanity in my posts. The English language is rich, and there are so many interesting ways to express ourselves without it. Every now and again, though, profanity seems the very best way to express my feelings. This was one of those times.)

(P.P.S. If you hate fat people, please fuck off. Truly. I cannot think of a better way to express this because that says it all succinctly.)

I have this friend who's fat and not because she chose to but because she was born that way. My aunt is the same. My uncle in New Jersey is huuuuuge. But It doesn't matter, at least to me. Sorry about the pendejo (asshole). We meet them every once a while. I was called stupid for being tall and termed stubborn because I'm slender. They'll always exist just ignore them. The world is never satisfied. Also a stereotype here in Nigeria "girls with small boobs are rude". Lmao. That one killed me.🤣

That one about the small boobs is hilarious. Awful, but funny.

I don't think most people choose to be fat. I lost 75lbs last year, but I am still fat, and maybe I always will be. That is not giving up. It is literally what all the doctors have told me.

I am in the process of writing an article (which may turn into more than one) about my weight because there is so much I have to say. Most people really don't understand how people get fat and why they remain fat (even those of us with substantial will power).

I didn't even realize I was a person with will power until a couple of years ago. That's another story.

Thank you for your support. I appreciate it a lot.

See this... I experienced serious damage to my self esteem because i wasn't big enough. I was "flat" as they call it. And these people unfortunately even family members can be so insensitive and say the most awful things.

This just gave me an idea... And I'm gonna talk about it. Also i may likely reach out to you soon when I've got it all sorted out. It's going to be good if all goes well. Maybe a new project or something on hive...

I would love to read about that one. I personally think that the reason one becomes fat could be many things. It's not always like the common stereotype that people said. For example, I am someone who eat less but having a slow metabolism is a problem itself.

Friends asked me to eat more (since I have always use fitnesspal)but the more I eat even, just the baseline for my body to function, I would gain weight quite easily. I also have stress and sleep problem which all of my doctors told me it contributes to my weight gain. And no, they are not stupid(I read the comment earlier). Like me, I think too much and that leads to stress, and for me, stress is a factor that leads me to weight gain. And well, looking forward to what you have to say about weight and all that.

I would have told the person I think it's really dumb what they are saying is.

Or maybe I would let it go and say nothing. Or get pissed and downvote them. I just feel that everyone has different orientations in life.

I'm not of the opinion that fat people are healthy...but I have been a fitness trainer and I only advise people of what should do when they ask me.

I realize I could hurt people's feelings especially when I don't know them. I do have a friend I pick on and he picks on me for my inadequacies. We are friends and we took years to build that understanding.

I don't want to be the same person who hinders your progress. That said the person is an asshole for coming to a post where you were in a positive light to drop shit in it.

I hope ranting about it helps get some steam off. Have a nice week!!

that old saying -- be careful about pointing fingers at others, there are four pointing back at you -- seems to fit that ignoramus.

Getting off on insulting others instead of contributing to the conversation also speaks about intelligence levels.

Sucks that people can be ridiculous like that. I think they are either just a troll who thinks things around here work the same as they do on the awful platforms like Fakebook or something. Not sure but thankfully I don't see a whole lot of that here on Hive. I don't read a considerable amount of posts but I rarely see, if ever, that type of stuff thankfully.

Thankfully the mute button will work to remove them and if they keep doing it and others see it, they will ruin themselves by getting down votes to oblivion.

FAT IS BEAUTIFUL...... I hate when people spew their negative vibe all over otherwise happy souls.. "Life is good " keep doing what you do , there are plenty of kind souls out here . peace love and light to all.

This comment wasn't a nice and thoughtful one, but what you did here is not much better... This comment was longer and you just brought this part out of the bigger context. Comment included a personal experience of this lost guy with topic brought by you. Moreover, you did no better, just by replying in the mean way as well... And now you play a victim in the sponsored post. Not really cool.

Did I go on his post and say mean things about him? No. This is my post. If he had read my post and gone off to write his own private post about how stupid he believes fat people are, I would not like him, but I would have no personal issue with him.

I have a right to express my feelings, and I tend to do it in writing. Writing is very vulnerable. If someone wants to take my vulnerability and use it against me, I don't feel bad when I call that person out for terrible behaviour. Shame on them! He has written many idiotic things and I read his posts and never commented on his idiocy nor did I downvote the posts. Even if he had written a post about, "All fat people are stupid," I would have ignored it. I only wrote this because I had emotions to deal with because this person actually upset me with his mean words in response to my post that was not about him.

I don't like your comment, and I disagree with you, but you didn't call me stupid, so I have no issue with you, and your comment did not upset me.

Why did I write this post? Because this guy actually upset me and I have a right to express myself. You don't have to read it, of course.

Thank you for your opinion.

That's awful. I think people should be more aware of the line you mentioned to just stay silent if you have nothing good to say. Don't listen to these haters and be yourself. Much love!

As you said, if one doesn't have anything good to say then it is best one doesn't say anything at all. This side of the internet attracts the best and worst. We have to learn to navigate this place and filter what's not good for us. You did what was best for you. Cheers!

I will never write anything on the internet that I wouldn't have the guts to say in person.

This is very much respectable. Everyone should behave like this. By the way, I am currently 29 years old, skinny, and my weight is around 50 kg. When I was younger, some people mocked me by saying things to me like "bone collection". I live with multiple disabities (including autism spectrum disorder), and I was bullied (physically and verbally) both in elementary school and also in middle school. I finished middle school as a private student. Some people are just evil, and they want to hurt you. Often both physically and verbally. But do not listen to them. Everyone is good as they are. People should accept both themselves and others. Greetings from Hungary.

I agree. I am sorry to hear about the bullying. That can have lasting consequences. I have been no stranger to it.

I have known several people "on the spectrum." It seems to me that it is a little like being a Mac in a world full of people who mostly run Windows -- an interface problem more than anything else, but that can certainly be problem enough! However, you might have experienced it differently.

More or less accurate description, but I feel like Linux or BSD instead of Mac, which are more rare than Mac. They hate you just/only because you are different from them.
