Wednesday Walk - Nostalgic in an abandoned Park

Every place must have memories for anyone who has occupied or visited it. Some have perpetuated the place, some are not. I'm sure you guys have a memory somewhere too. As well as me. A park that used to be a silent witness when I met a girl and had a relationship afterwards. Now the park is abandoned and not what it used to be, but sweet memories stick in my mind when I revisit it.

This is a Percut Park located in Deli Serdang district, North Sumatra. In the past, this park was my favourite place to relax, where I was alone under a shady tree while reading my stolen short stories at the bookstore. This place also has a sweet and sad story for me about when I had an meet with a girl.

After three years, I no longer visit this Percut Park. But yesterday, I just visited it again. This park is no longer the same as it used to be. For me, this place is a little scary because it is no longer maintained. Only a few people visit this place, and even then a young couple who are making love in a quiet place. Looks like it's fun dating in a quiet place.

Artificial lakes that were once used for playing duck boats, now look like dirty, muddy puddles. I remember when I met a girl in this park, I invited her to play duck boat while chatting in the middle of this artificial lake. It was an unforgettable memory for me. As for the other lakes, it is used for fishing. Many families have picnics by the lake with their children who look happy to play.

This bridge that looks like it is almost collapsing was once decorated with beautiful flower ornaments. Many girls and young couples take selfies on this bridge for their Instagram content. Every time I cross this bridge, people ask me to take their pictures. Because this bridge was once considered so aesthetically pleasing to take pictures of. But now, this bridge is no longer fit for use. Even, I almost fell when I stepped on rotten wood.

This long chair made of coconut wood used to be where I sat to calm down, read short stories, and watch the girls from a distance. This long chair became a silent witness when I expressed my feelings to the girl I loved and at the same time the place where I was dumped and abandoned by the girl I love. This lounger brings back both sweet and poignant memories for me.

This dove cage used to be very pretty too. The park manager coloured the birdcage to make it look beautiful. Lots of pigeons roaming around and also being given food. Even, some photographers also like to shoot pigeons that fly or perch on trees. But now, this aviary looks worn out. Even only a few birds are left in this park.

Now this place is no longer wanted, so it looks unkempt and a little creepy. The park that was once beautiful and comfortable, used for picnicking, relaxing, fishing, and even being a place for pre-wedding photos, is now a quiet and unkempt place. However, the memories of this park still linger in my memory. It's a shame, I never captured this park through photos. I hope that this park, which has sweet and painful memories, can be managed properly again. Become a park that is comfortable, cool, and beautiful as it used to be. Thank you very much for visiting and reading. Greetings.

It's a pity that it is not maintained anymore as it used to be. On the other hand, it means that the park is calmer as no many people will walk around here.... and it is more like wild nature :D

It is very sad to see so abandoned, a place that was so beautiful and of which you keep good memories. Hopefully one day it can be recovered.

Greetings.
