Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 309 with a Peruvian beer Kincho Red from the Cusco-based microbrewery Troglo Birra. In fact, a friend returned last week from a trip to Peru, and knowing my taste for amber beers, he brought me back this bottle. It was a very kind gesture, really appreciated.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 309 avec une bière péruvienne la Kincho Red de la microbrasserie Troglo Birra installée à Cusco. En effet, un ami est revenu la semaine dernière d'un voyage au Pérou et connaissant mon gout pour les bières ambrées, il m'a ramené cette bouteille. Très gentil, le geste est vraiment apprécié.

Here's the map just to pinpoint the brewery's location. Troglo Birra is located in the city of Cusco, Peru's main tourist destination, as it s the gateway to Machu Picchu. But the city itself is well worth a visit.

Voici la carte juste pour situer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Troglo Birra se trouve dans la ville de Cusco, la ville touristique principale du Pérou car c'est le point de passage obligé pour aller visiter le Machu Picchu. Mais la ville vaut la visite en elle-même.

Troglo Birra was founded by Piero Vellutino, an Italian traveller who fell in love with the region (owner of the Terra Explorer travel agency). He settled in Cusco, where he began brewing artisanal beers. The pandemic gave him time to set up his project, as customers came knocking on his door to buy some because other beers were scarce in the stores. For info, the name comes from his nickname, as his friends called him Troglo for troglodyte, having loved the Apurímac canyons since his youth.

Troglo Birra a été fondé par Piero Vellutino, voyageur italien tombé amoureux de cette région (propriétaire de l'agence de voyages Terra Explorer). Il s'est installé à Cusco ou il a commencé à brasser artisanalement des bières. Avec la pandémie, cela lui a donné le temps de monter son projet car des clients venaient frapper à sa porte pour en acheter car les autres bières se faisaient rare en magasin. Le nom vient de son surnom car ses amis l'appelaient Troglo pour troglodyte car amoureux des canyons de l'Apurímac depuis sa jeunesse.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

Kincho Red is an amber beer with 5.8% alcohol and an IBU of 28. It seems to have been brewed with [airampo], a type of cactus growing in South America. In the glass, it has a fairly opaque amber color with a effervescent head that disappears quickly. This beer has a good taste for an amber and is quite light and refreshing, perhaps brought on by the airampo. Nice discovery. And thanks again to my friend for bringing me this bottle.

La Kincho Red est une bière ambrée avec 5.8% d'alcool et un IBU de 28. Elle semble avoir été brassée avec de l'[airampo], une sorte de cactus poussant en Amérique du Sud. Dans le verre, on a une robe ambrée assez opaque avec une mousse assez effervescente qui disparait rapidement. Cette bière a un bon gout pour une ambrée et assez légère et rafraichissante, peut être apporté par l'airampo. Belle découverte. Et encore merci à mon ami de m'avoir ramené cette bouteille.

Design

For the design, it's pretty straightforward, with a portrait of Piero Vellutino, the creator of Troglo Birra, in the form of a logo. On the back is a small text describing the beer. I don't know if the color scheme changes with the type of beer, but here it's perfect for a Red Ale. Simple and effective. I finish with two photos of a surprise guest during my tasting: he stayed away eating his seeds 😀.

Niveau design, c'est assez simple avec le portrait de Piero Vellutino, le créateur de Troglo Birra, en forme de logo. A l'arrière, on retrouve un petit texte décrivant la bière. Je ne sais pas si la palette de couleur change avec le type de bière mais là c'est parfait pour une Red Ale. Simple et efficace. Je finis par deux photos d'un invité surprise pendant ma dégustation, il est resté à l'écart mangeant ses graines 😀.

First a little hidden, then relaxed as I didn't move from my seat. / FR : D'abord un peu caché, puis après relaxe vu que je ne bougeais pas de mon siège.
