Here's my participation in the BeerSaturday 319 with two beers from the microbrewery La Forge du Malt the Tignasse, a red ale and the Côtesse, a Neipa. All these beers were brought to me by friends during a diner at home. I always love getting gifts like that 😀.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 319 avec deux bières de la microbrasserie La Forge du Malt la Tignasse, une bière rousse et la Côtesse, une Neipa. Toutes ces bières m'ont été apportées par des amis lors d'un bbq à la maison. J'aime toujours recevoir des cadeaux comme cela 😀.

Two beers are missing from the photo, brought to me later that evening. All new beers and even two ciders, also trendy in Quebec. La Forgée, the Keto blonde, (on the left) I didn't taste it because it's special for a "slightly" diabetic friend thanks to its low carbohydrate content.

Il manque deux bières sur la photo qu'on m'a apportées plus tard dans la soirée. Que des nouveautés et même deux cidres, aussi à la mode au Québec. La Forgée, la blonde Keto, (sur la gauche) je ne l'ai pas goutée car elle est spéciale pour un ami légèrement diabétique grâce à son faible taux de glucide.

Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. Last week, we were near Trois Rivières with the brewery Le Trou du Diable, and now we're off to Trois Rivières to discover the beers of La Forge du Malt.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :

La Forge du Malt is a microbrewery based in Trois Rivières founded in 2017. It was created by 4 enthusiasts as is often the case, co-owners Martin Baril, Étienne Lamontagne, Guy Lafrenière and Patrice Leblanc. A great success, in 5 years production has doubled and a bar has opened on the premises. The brewery received two awards at the international competition Aro Rojo, 2 bronze medals in 2022, with the Brut IPA Keto Le Musclé and the Stout L'Ariale Black. To taste 😀.

La Forge du Malt est une microbrasserie installée à Trois Rivières depuis 2017. Elle fut créée par 4 passionnés comme c'est souvent le cas, copropriétaires Martin Baril, Étienne Lamontagne, Guy Lafrenière et Patrice Leblanc. Cela est beau succès, en 5 ans la production a doublé avec aussi l'ouverture d'un bar dans leurs locaux. La brasserie a reçu deux prix lors de la compétition internationale Aro Rojo, 2 médailles de bronze en 2022, avec la Brut IPA Keto Le Musclé et la Stout L’Ariale Black. A gouter 😀.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation La Trignasse:

Drunk in the evening, Tignasse is a red ale with 5.6% alcohol and an IBU of 26. In the glass, the color is quite dark for a red ale, with a beautiful beige head. The taste is of roasted malt. On the can, it's also marked by hazelnut, but my palate isn't fine enough to notice all that. I've been told not to worry, it develops as it goes along... Time is sometimes long.

Bue dans la soirée, la Tignasse est une bière rousse avec 5.6% d'alcool et un IBU de 26. Dans le verre, on a une robe assez sombre pour une bière rousse avec une belle mousse beige. Au gout, on retrouve le malt grillé. Sur la canette, c'est marqué aussi la noisette mais mon palais n'est pas assez fin pour remarquer tout cela. On m'a dit de ne pas m'inquiéter cela se développe au fur et à mesure...

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation La Côtesse:

La Côtesse is a NEIPA (New England IPA: IPA emphasizing the taste of hops) with 6% alcohol and an IBU of 50. I tasted it after setting up a tent. So even though I'm not a fan of IPAs, sometimes because of the overly pronounced citrus flavor, I can tell you that it went down well on its own 😀. That wasn't the case here. Unfortunately I had forgotten my beer glass. I can't show you its color (even I didn't see it), only a white foam.

La Côtesse est une NEIPA (New England IPA : IPA mettant en avant le gout du houblon) avec 6% d'alcool et un IBU de 50. Je l'ai dégustée après avoir monté une toile de tente. Alors même n'étant pas fan d'IPA à cause parfois d'une saveur d'agrumes trop prononcée, je peux vous dire qu'elle est passée toute seule 😀. Ce n'était pas le cas ici. Malheureusement j'avais oublié mon verre. Je ne peux pas vous montrer sa robe (même moi je ne l'ai pas vue), seulement une mousse blanche.

Design

In 2022, the design of La Forge du Malt was revised to incorporate the story of a little boy suffering from a degenerative disease that has affected the owners. To support him in his fight, the beers reflect the boy's imaginary world filled with heroes uniting to find a cure for his illness. Really cool concept. What's more, there's a giant mural on the brewery premises featuring all these characters. You'll have to check it out 😀.

En 2022, le design de La Forge du Malt a été revu pour intégrer l'histoire d'un petit garçon atteinte d'une maladie dégénérative qui a touché les propriétaires. Pour le soutenir dans son combat, les bières reflète le monde imaginaire du garçon rempli d'héros s'unissant pour trouver un remède à sa maladie. Vraiment cool concept. De plus une murale géante se trouve sur les locaux de la brasserie mettant en scène tous ces personnages. Il va falloir y faire un tour 😀.
