Here's my entry to the BeerSaturday 351 with a beer bought during my trip in Saint-Jean-de-Matha (see Wednesday Walk challenge: Super Glissades (Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Quebec)) because on the way back, there was the Côte à Beausoleil brewery. I stopped to buy a few cans, including this Stout Imperial in tribute to Quebec's strongman, Louis Cyr.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 351 avec une bière achetée lors de ma balade à Saint-Jean-de-Matha (voir Wednesday Walk challenge : Super Glissades (Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Québec)) car sur le chemin du retour, il y avait la brasserie Côte à Beausoleil. Je me suis arrêté pour acheter quelques canettes dont cette Stout Imperial en hommage à l'homme fort du Québec, Louis Cyr.

Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. Côte à Beausoleil is located just outside the town of Saint-Jean-de-Matha on a hilltop. It's true that in summer it must be nice to have a pint or two on their terrace.

Voici la carte du Québec ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Côte à Beausoleil se trouve à la sortie de la ville de Saint-Jean-de-Matha au sommet d'une colline. Il est vrai qu'en été cela doit être sympa de prendre une ou deux pinte sur leur terrase.

The brewery Côte à Beauoleil has this magnificent building in the middle of the woods at the top of a hill. And the two-story interior is just as inviting with board games, food and even Darth Vader's head in the toilet 😀.

La brasserie Côte à Beauoleil a ce magnifique bâtiment au milieu des bois au sommet d'une colline. Et l'intérieur sur deux étages est tout aussi accueillant avec des jeux de sociétés, de la nourriture et même la tête de Dark Vador dans les toilettes 😀.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :

The brewery Côte à Beauoleil was founded in 2020 by Jacob Stephens, an amateur brewer before going into business. He went on to learn at another Quebec microbrewery, Trécarré (Sainte Come), and then with a diploma from the Institut Brassicole du Québec. But with the pandemic, he and his associates decided to sell cans to go, as they were banking mainly on drinking on the premises. It's true that the place is magnificent. I'll have to come back in summer for a BBQ.

La brasserie artisanale Côte à Beauoleil a été fondée en 2020 par Jacob Stephens, brasseur amateur avant de se lancer en affaire. Puis il a appris dans une autre brasserie québécoise microbrasserie Trécarré (Sainte Come) puis avec un diplôme à l'Institut Brassicole du Québec. Mais avec la pandémie, avec ses associés, ils décident de vendre des canettes en emporter car ils misaient surtout pour boire sur place. C'est vrai que le lieu est magnifique. Il faudra y retourner l'été lors d'un BBQ.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

This Stout Impérial is an extra-strong beer with 9.6% alcohol. I hadn't seen the percentage before buying it, it was the can design that caught my eye (as it often does 😀). It was brewed as a tribute to Louis Cyr, a Quebec strongman who lived from 1863 to 1912 and set many records including lifting 124kg single-handedly. But back to the beer, in the glass we have a beautiful black color with a slight neck that quickly disappears. On the palate, it's a little too strong in alcohol for me for a beer, but normal for an Imperial Stout, with a fairly strong bitterness and a pronounced malty taste.

Cette Stout Impérial est une bière extra forte avec 9.6% d'alcool. Je n'avais pas vu le pourcentage avant de l'acheter, c'est le design de la canette qui a attiré mon œil (comme souvent 😀). Elle a été brassé en hommage à Louis Cyr, homme fort du Québec qui a vécu de 1863 à 1912 et établit de nombreux records dont soulevé 124kg d'une seule main. Mais retournons à la bière, dans le verre nous avons une belle robe noire avec un léger col qui disparait rapidement. En bouche, c'est un peu trop fort en alcool pour moi pour une bière mais normal pour une Imperial Stout avec une amertume assez forte et un gout malté prononcé.

Design

The can graphics were created by Jacob Headley, an illustrator and muralist with a rather manga style. In the center, in black and white, we find Louis Cyr lifting 273 pounds (124 kilos) with one hand, surrounded by some pretty cool colored animals. I love the looks on the animals' faces, surprised by the force of this human 😀.

Le graphisme de la canette a été réalisé par Jacob Headley, illustrateur et muraliste avec un style assez manga. Au centre, en noir et blanc, on retrouve Louis Cyr soulevant d'une seule main 273 livres (124 kilos) entouré d'animaux colorés assez sympa. J'aime beaucoup les regards des animaux surpris de l'exploit de cet humain 😀.
