Results RM Sotheby's London 2021
It's been a long time since I talked about cars but with the cold season starting in Canada, Street Art might be a bit less present in the next months (although I still have a lot of posts to write, photos to sort, artists to find...).
We'll see the results of the sale done by the international auction house RM Sotheby's hosted in London on November 6th. During its sale, many cars have been sold from English classic cars to modern supercars including this stunning 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari sold for only £ 2,142,500 / $US 2,876,760 :
If you want to see some of the final price of the cars presented on my blog, here's a follow-up :
1952 Jaguar C-Type | 1960 Porsche 356 Zagato | 1968 Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 |
Unknown (unsold ?) | £ 455,000 | £ 189,750 |
1958 Triumph TR3A | 1960 AC Ace-Bristol | |
£ 140,000 | £ 252,500 |
Let's start with the top three sales...
2016 Ferrari LaFerrari
The most expensive car sold was a 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari for £ 2,142,500 / $US 2,876,760. This is one of the 916 produced with only just 918 miles on the odometer with an unique livery Vinaccia paint over Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano interior. I was too curious to know what this color was that I searched a picture of the interior. It's true that we want to sit behind this wheel 😀
Just for info, the V12 produces 789 hp mated with an electric motor adding 161 hp. LaFerrari can reach 100 kmh in just 2.4 seconds.
Final Price : £ 2,142,500
1987 Porsche 959
In second place, this Porsche 959 was sold for £ 1,158,125 / $US 1,555,000. Only 292 examples were produced of this beast. It all began with a project for the Group B racing series with the same chassis of the 911 Carrera but equipped with a 2.85 liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder racing engine producing 444 hp at 6,500 rpm. Beautiful car of 80's...
Final Price : £ 1,158,125
1928 Mercedes-Benz 630 K
I don't know much about cars before the 50's but it's always a great design. Pre-war cars are like art objects. And this 1928 Mercedes-Benz 630 K is no exception. It was owned by the same family for more than 90 years. The car was unrestored, the coach work still has bullet holes from the Spanish Civil War in 1936 😀
Final Price : £ 792,500
If money wasn't an issue, what car would you have walked away with from this sale?
For me the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 would be perfect

I'd take the 959 because of its history and how special it is. Porsche halo cars are much rarer too.
You'll not go unnoticed in this car, for sure. Pure beast specially designed for the Group B, golden age of sport cars.
