Today I'm sharing two shipping containers hidden in a Montreal alley, painted by the artists Cryote and Napalm. I often cycle along the bike path right next to them without ever noticing this artwork. It just goes to show the importance of changing your route, even slightly, and altering your routine to make very cool discoveries like this one.

Aujourd'hui je vous présente deux conteneurs cachés dans une ruelle de Montréal peints par les artistes Cryote et Napalm. Je passe très souvent en vélo sur la piste cyclable qui se trouve juste à côté sans jamais apercevoir cette oeuvre. D'où l'importance de changer, même légèrement, de route et de modifier sa routine pour faire de belles découvertes comme celle-ci.

The two containers are located at the back of a garage on the corner of Frontenac and Rachel streets in Montreal.

Les deux conteneurs se trouvent à l'arrière d'un garage au coin des rues Frontenac et Rachel à Montréal.

Cryote & Napalm

This is an artist who has often been featured in the #StreetArt series with his partner WaxHead, with 40 posts in total on Cryote aka Sebastian Millar. As a reminder, and for new members of our community, he's a painter originally from Ottawa who has been living in Montreal for many years.

Il s'agit d'un artiste qui a souvent été présenté pendant la série #StreetArt avec son comparse WaxHead, 40 posts en tout sur Cryote aka Sebastian Millar. Pour rappel et les nouveaux membres de notre communauté, c'est un artiste peintre originaire à Ottawa maintenant installé à Montréal depuis de nombreuses années.

However, I don't have much information about Napalm. This is the first and only time I've seen his work in the streets of Montreal, featuring a butterfly beneath a character in Cryote's usual style. The nature-inspired background, which includes other animals from Cryote's bestiary, must also be the work of Napalm.

Par contre, je n'ai pas beaucoup d'information sur Napalm. C'est la première et la seule fois que je vois son travail dans les rues de Montréal avec ce papillon en dessous d'un personnage au style habituel de Cryote. Le fond style nature qui accueille d'autres animaux du bestiaire de Cryote doit être aussi l'oeuvre de Napalm.

These two containers add color and style to this otherwise rather dreary alley. The back wall of the garage isn't great; it could use some nicer lettering. 😀

C'est deux conteneurs mettent de la couleur et du style dans cette ruelle plutôt triste sinon. Le mur arrière du garage n'est pas terrible, il mériterait un lettrage un peu plus léché 😀.

To add to this post, in another Montreal alley, there was this door also painted by Cryote alongside his artist friends, WaxHead and Labrona. Many alley doors are painted by this trio, adding welcome splashes of color.

Pour compléter ce post, dans une autre ruelle de Montréal, il y avait cette porte peinte aussi par Cryote avec à côté, ses amis artistes, WaxHead et Labrona. Beaucoup de portes de ruelle sont peintes par ce trio, des touches de couleurs bienvenues.
