Wednesday Walk Challenge : Mural Festival, Montreal

It's been a long time since I took part in the #WednesdayWalk hosted by @tattoodjay. But since it's the Mural Festival, I decided to take a lunch break and go for a walk on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal to see the progress of the various murals and take advantage of the fine weather. So, are you ready to walk The Main with me?

Cela fait longtempts que je n'ai pas participé au #WednesdayWalk organisé par @tattoodjay. Mais comme il s'agit du Mural Festival, j'ai décidé pendant ma pause à midi d'aller faire un tour sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent à Montréal pour voir l'avancement des différentes murales et profiter du beau temps. Alors êtes-vous prêt à parcourir The Main avec moi ?

The Mural Festival takes place on Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrook Street and Mont-Royal Avenue in Montreal. The festival began on June 5 and ends on June 15. There are murals by local and international artists, as well as a number of music shows on the various stages set up along the street. Something for everyone 😀.

Le Mural Festival se déroule sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent entre la rue Sherbrook et l'avenue Mont-Royal à Montréal. Le festival a commencé le 5 juin pour terminer le 15 juin. Il y a la réalisation de murales par des artistes locaux et internationaux mais aussi pas mal de shows de musique aux différentes scènes installées le long du parcours. Il y en a pour tous les gouts.

We'll start heading up boulevard Saint-Laurent to rue Rachel. This year, many inflatable structures have been installed, like this beaver or this other First Nations-style beaver. As the street has been closed to traffic, many stores have set up booths, making it a lot of fun to stroll down the street, especially in this sun.

Nous allons commencer à remonter le boulevard Saint-Laurent jusqu'à la rue Rachel. Cette année plusieurs structures gonflables ont été installées comme ce castor ou cet autre castor style Premières Nations. Comme la rue a été fermée à la circulation automobile, beaucoup de magasins ont installé des kiosques, vraiment le fun de déambuler dans la rue, surtout avec ce beau temps.

I really like the atmosphere, especially as there's so much to see next door, because artists who weren't invited can still get noticed by displaying their work in the surrounding streets, like this “Cover Your Eyes With Pretty Things” collage, or Lost Claws on rooftops (see StreetArt #790 for more info and photos on Lost Claws).

J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance surtout qu'à côté il y a beaucoup de choses à voir car pour les artistes qui n'ont pas été invités peuvent toujours se faire remarquer en affichant leur travail dans les rues alentours comme ce collage "Cover Your Eyes With Pretty Things" ou alors Lost Claws sur les toits (voir StreetArt #790 pour plus d'info et de photos sur Lost Claws).

On Avenue des Pins, the mural by Sebastián Ayala is progressing very well, very colorfully. You can see the progress since Monday in Weekly StreetArt #169. Then on rue Saint-Dominique, it's Satr with his unique style, like a tiger emerging from a cloud of smoke. I can't wait to see the final result.

Sur l'avenue des Pins, la murale de Sebastián Ayala avance très bien, très colorée. Vous pouvez voir l'évolution depuis lundi dans Weekly StreetArt #169. Puis dans la rue Saint-Dominique, il s'agit de Satr avec son style unique, comme un tigre sortant d'un nuage de fumée. Il me tarde de voir le résultat final.

On Clark Street, there's also activity with the American artist Hoxxoh, with this background that plunges us into the Caraibe Sea, I can't wait to see what geometric shape he'll add. Then, as I said in my introduction, there are the side projects, such as the BTH crew, who are also redoing the long wall on Clark Street above Rachel Street. It's almost finished, and I'll show you more about it in a future post.

Sur la rue Clark, il y a aussi de l'activité avec l'artiste américain Hoxxoh, avec ce fond qui nous plonge dans la mer Caraibe, je suis impatient quelle forme géométrique il va y ajouter. Puis comme je le disais en introduction, il y a les à-côtés comme le collectif BTH qui en train de refaire le long mur aussi sur la rue Clark au dessus de la rue Rachel. C'est bientôt terminé, je vais vous montrer cela en détail dans un prochain post.

Finally, we return to Boulevard Saint-Laurent, where large white panels have been installed for artists to express their talent and imagination. I hope to be able to take a photo of them when they're finished. So if you're in Montreal over the weekend, I suggest you take a stroll along Saint-Laurent.

Pour terminer, nous retournons sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent où de grands panneaux blancs ont été installés pour que les artistes laissent leur talent et imagination s'exprimer. J'espère pouvoir les prendre en photo quand ils seront terminés. Alors si vous êtes à Montréal pendant le weekend, je vous conseille de faire un tour sur Saint-Laurent.
