Memories from another life

Don't you hate it,
when you ask somebody where is
that particular street,
for your latest greet and meet,
and instead of saying left and right,
as they might, they are using east, west,
as you take care of the rest
of the day. Whatever you say
you may be wrong, no thong,
no bong, all of this is just a song
reminding us of that old time
when we drank the lime, saw a mime
and decided to become human,
to drive a van, see Sam, eat ham,
all these little things, you minx,
do not be a jinx, lynx or vixen,
why did we leave those escape pods,
forgot we are Old Gods,
and become this.
This life, this body, nobody
can be that rowdy, howdy, farmer
of my heart, your cart, we used to race it
to the market, centuries ago,
immortality is a big no-no,
yet, we told you so, so long ago
no lime, no mime, given enough time
even the stars will die.
