How I Created This Brick-Laying Stage Decoration

I have always admired #brick #buildings the neat pattern, the rhythm, and the texture they bring to a space. I just decided to recreate that same brick effect on my #church stage using black suade fabric and a paper #ribbon. The result was this unique and stylish brick laying wall #decoration.
In this post, I will walk you through exactly how I made it, step by step.

Materials Used

Black suede material (for the backdrop)

White paper ribbon

Tumb pins

Tacking nails

White lining

Long ruler

Artificial leaves

Hammer

Scissors

Tacking pins

Before starting the brick pattern, I created a plain black background using the suade material. This provided a clean canvas and made the white ribbon stand out sharply. I followed a specific measurement to achieve the brick pattern.
Each rectangle is 18 inches by 8 inches, and Vertical spacing between ribbons 8 inches.

Note that accurate measurements really matter so the pattern can stay straight and look real. In this diy I will use macco, ribbon, tumb pin and a ruler to show the same makeup process I used when creating the bigger decoration. It is just to make the explanation easy to understand.

Makeup Process

I pinned the black suade backdrop firmly on the wall of the stage on a wooden frame, but am using macco as the background here

I laid the white ribbon horizontally from one edge of the backdrop to the other. Then I spaced each line 8 inches downwards at intervas.

Using a long ruler, I measured 18 inches intervals across the horizontal ribbons. This helped me mark where each "brick" would begin and end. I cut several 8 inches ribbon pieces. These served as the vertical connectors to complete the brick pattern.

Starting from the top, I fixed the 8 inches vertical ribbons alternately to give that amazing brick laying effect.
I continued this process row by row until the entire backdrop was covered.

This was not a quick project. Because of the height and length of the stage, the entire setup took about six hours. At a point few mistakes occurs due to the stress but only a trained eye would notice . Well, that is the beauty of #creativity imperfections often blend into the design 😄 creative legends will understand. Let us

The outlook on Sunday during our service

Finally, the people that aided me had no prior experience, but their open minds helped everything flow smoothly.
One important thing to note is that this design is not for the lazy. It requires patience, precision, and a willingness to follow measurements carefully.
If you love structured patterns and want something unique for your stage or event, this brick laying decoration is definitely worth trying.

This is so clean and smooth. It no doubt cost you a great deal of effort and time, but we’re glad you were able to pull it off. Well done.
