Chiaroscuri nature

I find it fascinating to make use of the strong light and shadow in my photography. It gives unexpected contrast, adds depth and helps to infuse emotion in the photos.

It works almost similar to what is called 'chiaroscuro' in painting. For those of you who haven't heard this word earlier, Chiaroscuro is a italian term which translates to light-dark. The dictionary defines it as the treatment of light and shade in drawing & painting. And, the technique is primarily used to add depth or give a scene the illusion of being three-dimensional.
