Monomad: Landslides, Shepherds, and Scenic Trails

It was June, and I was in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. It was summer, and I was at an altitude of 3,000 meters. I was here to reconnoiter the route for a trail running event. I had to walk a 25-kilometer trail to see if any landslides had occurred due to last year's snowfall.

And if there had been a landslide, we would have to abandon the trail for the event or make it suitable for running. In search of this question, I began my trek from the Solang Valley, where I soon found myself deep in the forest.

As soon as I entered the forest, I met a shepherd who was going from Kulhan village to Mori Dug, and interestingly, I was also going to cover the same trail. I spoke to the shepherd and started walking with him. I had covered 16 kilometers in a few hours, having walked since morning.

And now I had a great time covering the last 9 kilometers. Sunset sets early in the afternoon here in the valley. As the sunset ebbed, I watched sheep and goats pass through the forest, and some of the herding dogs wagged their tails at me.

Everything was wonderful, and as I began my descent, I was greeted by spectacular views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges, all beautifully covered in fresh snow.
