Visited Beas river and 100 year old bridge

22 September 2023

Was very tired after yesterday's road trip, slept after having dinner at night and woke up at 08:30 in the morning. When I woke up, I saw that the sun had come and the mountains were enjoying this warmth. The minimum temperature at night was 12 degrees. I catch cold very easily so I slept wearing warm clothes, had a very good sleep at an altitude of 2450 meters.

After freshening up in the morning, eating parathas and bread-omelet, we set out on the route. On the way we meet some runners, the runners say that due to the rain this time there is a lot of water in the streams. Whereas at this time the rain stops and the water also reduces in the rivers and streams.

On Runner's Concern we leave on Anjani Mahadev stream. After walking about 2 km we reach the stream. There is some water in the stream here but not that much. We check the route and decide that we will install a rope here and install wooden people above the stream for crossing.

We get late in coming from here, now our plan is to visit the British Bridge due to which the route has to be lengthened a bit. By car we go to Kothi village where we park the car and walk to the bridge. After walking about 2 km we reach British Bridge. The bridge work here has still not been completed so we will not be able to bring the race from here.

This bridge is 100 years old and is still intact, earlier the race used to go to Kothi village via this bridge but now the route will have to be changed to Palchan village. Come back to the car from the bridge and from here we leave for Manali.

From tomorrow we have to mark the route, for this we buy all the material for route marking. While Manali used to be full of tourists, there are very few people here due to the disaster during monsoon. After talking to the locals here, it came to light that about 350 people lost their lives in the disaster. According to the survey, there has been a loss of Rs 7500 crore in Himachal Pradesh.

On return, we have lunch at Sher-e-Punjab restaurant located on the way, of course, there is no time to eat at 4 in the evening, but people who are hungry since morning do not see the time. We eat Indian food which includes dal, mix veg vegetable, raita and butter roti. After having dinner, we return to our cottage where we plan for the coming days. Now everything depends on the weather. If the weather is good then the race will be possible, otherwise who knows what will happen...for which we are also not ready.

So this was our first day in Solang Valley, tomorrow our plan is to mark the route for which we will divide into 2 teams and complete the work. I hope you liked the photos of the mountains.
