Where the Mountains Embrace the Sun

Everyone loves sunsets and if this sunset is in the mountains then it becomes 5 star. Watching sunset from the mountains is like waving goodbye to the pink sun after a tired day so that we can meet again tomorrow with the same energy and excitement. These photos are from Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh located in the north of India where there is a small village called Bir.

Bir is located at 1400 meters and is very famous for Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries, Dhauladhar mountain range, tea gardens and paragliding. I have lived in this place between 2016 and 2020 and believe me this place is a paradise for adventure lovers. There are many options available for trekking here. My favorite is Hanumangarh Epic Peak which is a 3080 meter high peak.

These photos are from when I was returning after summiting Hanumangarh Peak. We started at 10 am and reached the top at 1:30 pm. In 8 km we gained an elevation of 2030 meters which was a lot. On this route we 4 people drank 5 liters of water and from this we can imagine how difficult the route was.

Anyway we reached Billing at 5:30 pm, from here the paragliders take off and fly down to the landing site of Bir. When the tourists step on the ground after losing an elevation of a thousand meters, everyone's head starts spinning. I too had done paragliding once and in the very first attempt I vomited in the air. It was a very bad experience after which I never did paragliding again.

So when we reached Billing we could not stop ourselves from seeing this setting sun, the redness of the sunset is playing on the Dhauladhar like a small child. After witnessing the magical view we finally reach bir 07:30 and end our day.
