Winter trekking with 4 unknown friends

It was many years ago when I met Amar through Facebook. Then the sequence started and we made a plan to go to Chadar (The Famous One) in the year 2014, both of us could not go due to our respective problems. Plans were made to meet several times, but they did not meet, then finally A.J. He himself took the initiative and entered Beed on 16th February. We trekked till Shatvadini temple after which it left back to Jammu.

There is not much to tell on this trek, but there is a lot to show. Let's go where there are no adventurers, where there are no mountain conquerors, no wanderlust, no lost souls, a journey just to see it as it is.

AJ had reached Beed by driving in i20 from Jammu. The next day, with minor preparations, we left Beed in his car. As per the plan, we will park the car in Billing and after spending one night in the Dharamshala of Shatvadini Temple, we will return to Beed. We reached Billing at 10.15 in the morning, the weather was clear, the sun was out and we started the trek by eating potato parathas while paragliding.

The height of Billing is 2430 meters and this place is famous in the world of paragliding. This is the nearest place to Beed where snow falls many times in winter, sometimes 2 to 3 feet of snow falls easily. It is surprising that paragliding happens here even in so much snow.

So only two of us started the track but after 10 steps we found 4 more companions. We don't know where they were going? He didn't ask where we were going, but still stayed together. We were on a journey and now it was 2 to 6.

4 km from Billing. Later it started snowing. Half a dozen of us were having fun in the snow. One of the four dogs is named 'Django', one has been named by some foreign paraglider pilot which I don't remember and the other two are probably unnamed.

The snow is above our ankles, the snow is gone in the shoes, Django and the team are running, jumping and even eating the snow in Almasti.

3 km. Back we crossed ‘Go Nala’ (my personal favourite). Viewed from below, A.J. According to the above can be reached today, A.J. Let me tell you, this is its trick, don't get trapped in it even by mistake. I think it is better to move forward with folded hands.

By the time we reach Chaina Pass (2850 m.) it is around quarter to 2 in the afternoon. I was thinking that I would meet uncle, spend some time with him and after some fun, go to Dharamshala. But most of the time uncle is still missing.

From Chaina Pass the road goes to Rajgunda village. Just last year, till the month of November, the work of connecting this road to Badagram was going on in full swing. Now road cutting will start again after the snow melts. A path climbs up from Chaina Pass where the temple of Shatvadini Mata can be reached and after going a little further, Hanumangarh can be reached. As soon as you climb up from Chaina Pass, you see very beautiful views desperate to enthrall you.

Snow had fallen 3 days ago due to which all the wood in the forest was wet, so wherever dry wood was found, A.J. picked up

At 3 o'clock we reached our destination where we had to spend the night. After keeping the bags, first of all we collected dry wood. Water has accumulated here, and we have brought 4 liters of water from below.

After collecting wood, we went to the temple to have darshan of Mata. The temple is surrounded by Tosh, Ban and Deodar trees. Shatavadini means "seven sisters", this temple is named after seven sisters, at some places it is also known as Satbahani. Not much is known about this temple except that "whatever wish is made here is fulfilled by the Mother Goddess" and the 7 trees located near the temple are linked to the presence of seven sisters.

When we reached here, we packed the lunch we had brought from Beed. One chapatti each came to Jengo and team's share also. But what would have happened with one chapatti? After coming back from Shatvadini temple, A.J. He gave proof of his being an animal lover and prepared chapati for all four friends.

We got the flour in Dharamshala from which A.J. Made about 12 rotis. I'm sure Django and team have A.J. Gave lots of blessings in the form of Bhau-Bhau.
After spending a night here, the next day we came down and from where A.J. Went to my home. This is the end of this wonderful little journey. Jai Hind Jai Bharat .

Beautiful view and story. Amazing how you chose to prepare less for a trip into the wild. It alone speaks of courage . Lovely to see that you guys had fun.

Superb photography on hike with four companions accompanying you plus AJ of course. Dogs look healthy and happy roamers, much like people enjoy freedom on the mountains.
