Retornar por la Verde Llanería a mi Casa. Cronicas de Viaje [Esp/Eng]

El plan de viaje está organizado para salir de la ciudad de Valencia a las tres de la mañana. Me despierto para realizar mi aseo personal; ya tengo el equipaje listo y me dispongo a esperar el carro que me va a trasladar hasta Caicara del Orinoco. Despierto a Irina y a mi nieto, Alejandro, quien me ayuda a bajar las maletas por el ascensor.

The travel itinerary is arranged for a 3 a.m. departure from the city of Valencia. I wake up to freshen up; my luggage is already packed, and I get ready to wait for the car that will take me to Caicara del Orinoco. I wake Irina and my grandson, Alejandro, who helps me take the suitcases down in the lift.

Una vez en la planta baja del edificio, conversamos sobre los propósitos de nuestras vidas y cómo ayudarnos mutuamente con las emociones y un futuro cargado de esperanzas positivas. Sostenemos esta charla mientras espero al chofer. En eso, llega el automóvil y procedemos a acomodar el equipaje. Nos despedimos con un abrazo y un beso plenos de optimismo.

Once on the ground floor of the building, we talk about our life purposes and how to support each other emotionally, looking forward to a future filled with bright hope. We share this conversation while I wait for the driver. Just then, the car arrives, and we begin loading the luggage into the boot. We say our goodbyes with a hug and a kiss full of optimism.

El inicio de la travesía llanera
Más adelante, hago un trasbordo a otro vehículo y ocupo la cómoda butaca del copiloto. Salimos por la Autopista Regional del Centro hasta la encrucijada de Cagua, para luego desplazarnos por las vías de la región de los llanos guariqueños venezolanos. El ambiente natural está cubierto por un fascinante verde vegetal que despierta mis sentidos; percibo cómo la clorofila se adueña del camino, como si el sendero hubiese sido diseñado y pintado por ella. Así se mantuvo durante toda esta deliciosa travesía llanera.

The Start of the Plains Journey
Further along the road, I transfer to another vehicle and take the comfortable front passenger seat. We head down the Autopista Regional del Centro as far as the Cagua crossroads, before moving onto the roads of the Venezuelan Guárico plains. The natural scenery is blanketed in a fascinating plant green that awakens my senses; I can feel the chlorophyll taking over the road, as if the path had been designed and painted by it. It remains this way throughout this delightful journey across the plains.

Después de pasar las ciudades de San Juan de los Morros y El Sombrero, el horizonte se transformó en un plano perfecto. Todo el llano se extiende bajo las radiaciones de un sol crujiente, cobijado por el eterno verdor guariqueño.

After passing the cities of San Juan de los Morros and El Sombrero, the horizon transforms into a perfect flat expanse. The entire plain lies stretched out beneath the radiant, crisp sunshine, nestled in the everlasting green of Guárico.

Rumbo al gran río
Durante el trayecto, las paradas son cortas. El chofer está muy pendiente de la hora de llegada al puerto de Cabruta, frente al río Orinoco. Por mi parte, me mantengo ensimismado en este sendero que conozco de tantos años de travesía, con el dulce sentimiento de regresar a la casa de mi familia. Es un paseo delicioso que me regala recuerdos maravillosos.

Heading Towards the Great River
The stops along the route are brief. The driver is mindful of our arrival time at the port of Cabruta, facing the Orinoco River. As for me, I remain lost in thought along this path I have known from so many years of travel, filled with the sweet feeling of returning to my family home. It is a delightful drive that gifts me wonderful memories.

La tarde resulta oportuna para efectuar la última parada: recargar combustible y aprovechar para comer una sopa de pescado de río y una pieza frita con casabe. Después de saborear un buen café, salimos hacia el puerto de la chalana en la población de Cabruta para trasladarnos a Caicara del Orinoco.

The afternoon proves to be the right time for our final stop: to refuel with petrol and take the opportunity to eat some river fish soup and a fried piece with casabe. After savouring a good coffee, we set off for the ferry port in the town of Cabruta to cross over to Caicara del Orinoco.

Me apeo del coche para respirar el aire del río Orinoco. Observo las nubes y noto que el color de las voluminosas aguas se torna como el Toddy: una mezcla de café con cacao. Es impresionante el entorno. Aunque no tengo dificultades visuales, para verificar este hermoso fenómeno de la naturaleza, comparo lo que veo con las imágenes de mi smartphone y lo converso con los presentes.

I step out of the car to breathe in the air of the Orinoco River. I observe the clouds and notice that the colour of the voluminous waters turns into a Toddy shade—like coffee mixed with cocoa. The surroundings are truly impressive. Although I have no eyesight problems, to verify this beautiful natural phenomenon, I check the images on my smartphone and speak with the people around me.

Una vez verificado el suceso del paisaje, abordamos la chalana dentro del carro. Así, voy enfocado en el eterno verdor que me acompañó desde Carabobo hasta el llano guariqueño, permitiendo que el sabroso color Toddy del río Orinoco me endulce el alma.

Once the landscape's spectacle is confirmed, we board the ferry inside the car. Thus, I go on, focused on the everlasting green that has accompanied me all the way from Carabobo to the Guárico plains, letting the rich Toddy colour of the Orinoco River sweeten my soul.
