Playing Chess on HiveSuite and Sharing the Results on Snapie

https://play.3speak.tv/embed?v=hirohurl/2rpnmtue

I've been spending a bit of time during August playing games on HiveSuite.app - I've played quite a bit of Ludo and Asteroids, as well as the tank game, and I've now added chess to the list.

Actually, the chess game wasn't there when I first started using HiveSuite. I requested one, and to my surprise it appeared only a couple of days later. I also suggested adding some alternative colour schemes for the board, and those appeared very quickly too.

That's one of the nice things about discovering a relatively new project. You can actually make suggestions and if the project designer is anything like @sagarkothari88 you might even see them implemented.

So, how good are the chess bots?

Well, that's where things get amusing.

HiveSuite has several levels of chess bot, ranging from "Novice" to "Master" and "Grandmaster." Naturally, names like "Grandmaster" make it sound rather impressive when you beat one.

And I regularly beat them all 🍺😎 and share the results on Snapie.io - something that is very easy to do. Just click a couple of buttons and the final position of your game will be posted on your Snapie feed.

But don't get too "impressed" about my chess ability. These bots are clearly intended more for entertainment than serious chess training. Even at the higher levels, they can make some spectacularly bad decisions.

Actually, what prompted me to make this video was some complimentary comments I got in response to my chess victory posts on Snapie. People were "impressed" that I'd beaten a "Master" bot...

So I thought I'd pop that balloon by demonstrating in a series of live games how easy it is to beat the bots! And here we have the Youtube bersion of the video:

Okay, in the Grandmaster challenge game, I did manage to blunder my Queen, but even so it was not really very impressive to go on and win because the bot blundered even more than I did!

So, there we have it. I beat the "Grandmaster" bot and so I am now officially a HiveSuite Grandmaster. 🏆🚬😎🍻♞

I'm not sure that title will get me very far in the chess world.

From a game to a Hive post

HiveSuite makes it very easy to share the result on https://www.snapie.io/ - When the game is over, click the blue share button and the game result is prepared as a post for Snapie. When it's ready, a blue "Share on Hive" button appears. Click the button and the post, complete with a screenshot of the final position of the game, will be posted on Snapie.

You could have shared results directly from hivesuite. There was no need to switch to other app :)
Thank you so much for sharing detailed video on hivesuite games

This is actually super cool! It's awesome seeing people develop chess apps and integrate them into Hive. I recently spotted another one over on the scrobble.life page too. I wonder who's behind these apps!

As for your games, you're definitely right. Even the top-tier bots on that site aren't particularly "intelligent" as you put it, haha. Glad you had fun with it regardless! Appreciate the review and for sharing this.
