SPAM Much? = ✓MUTE

I am usually a very humble person and I frequently ignore peoples stupid mistakes. I try to teach them differently and I give people a second chance on a more or less daily basis. Both in real life and on Hive.

I am eagerly trying to help others around me and I know that it's easy to make mistakes, so I often let things slip and I seldom downvote or attack people who are doing things wrong. Instead, I tell them what to do and how to do things to improve and become better. I believe in good and bad, but I truly want good to conquer, so I always try to solve things in the best possible, easiest and nicest way.

  • It's not always easy though, and some people never learns.

Here you have @aggregator, just one out of many users who behaves like idiots. It's true, I don't really like to call him- or others idiots, but this guy doesn't seem capable of doing things properly. Instead, he desperately tries to take shortcuts by doing one simple thing, something that is considered bad all over the internet, in every single country. He includes links to his own content in rather poor comments he makes.

Like this:

spamm.png

I published an article with the title: Salary At Work - What Makes or BREAKS Morale, and I wrote about my job and included my life experience in that article. I also talked about Hive & LeoFinance, so this guy has a point when he congratulate me for sharing what I have done, but seriously...

  • Congratulations?

Get the fuck out of the comment sections if that is the best thing you can come up with. That goes for this guy and all the other spamming-fucktards out there.

Don't get me wrong though, it's not that I downvoted or muted this user the first time I noticed his spam. I actually replied to him nicely the first time:

1sttime.png

The second time this happened, I decided to do something different and I came up with this:

2ndtime.png

So, I gave him a downvote the second time, but I still told him about it. I did that in an attempt of being nice and to make him truly aware of what would happen if he continued to do what he does..

When this happened now, a third time, and this user has not even replied to my comments, I decided to do this:

2152154497_smallmutebutton.png

However, I actually wrote him one more time and I told him this:

3rdtime.png

I know that some of you out there would mute this person immediately and never think about it again, but that's not me. I don't do things like that and I still wanted him to change his behaviour. Even though I have muted this user now, I still didn't want to ruin everything for him. I want him to understand that spam will never solve anything, and it is a shortcut to your own disaster.

That being said, this user is not even spamming much. He has done it a handful of times, but I hate this type of behaviour and I will continue to mute users who are doing it. This is just one out of a dozens incoming I suppose..

I rarely mute people, but hey:
Congratulations to ending up on my list of muted users!

Well the mute function is certainly doing its job. Is this your first person on your mute list?

Yeah, sort of. I have muted 6 people in total, but this is the first real user so to speak. But there will be a lot more in the near future.

Spammers gonna spam. Dumb thing is, they would probably spend the same amount of time actually reading and commenting a few posts than spamming dozens of them, with far more reward.

I know, right?! - It's so stupid.. If only people could learn to actually care and spend time to do things like it's supposed to be done instead of trying to find weird shortcuts..

It happens on mainstream media too, alot of people put their links of comments in other people's comments section with the perception people would want to go across to read them.

It's quite an interesting behaviour but I didn't think it would occur as much here because there are financial incentives. I wonder what he was hoping to achieve.

I wonder what he was hoping to achieve.

Probably what all the other spammers are trying to achieve. Many of them seem to believe that spamming their links everywhere is a shortcut to success and riches, while the reality is that each spam-comment they make is a nail in their own coffin.

Yeah well there are scalpers out there. They are trying to do all they can to get votes instead of engaging or interacting with people.

I agree with you. Simply muting the first time is not helping the platform. At least you tried to point this one in the right direction.

Some really do it out of, what do I call it, not ignorance but close. They will adapt if told. But then there are those who do not care.

I believe there is a place in discord to drop the name of spammers and they will be muted at the site level.

Yeah, I tried but it didn't help. It's unfortunate, but people are trying to find these shortcuts to riches and glory and they doesn't realize that they're digging their own graves.

Congratulations on sharing your internet experience !!

LET'S TALK ABOUT...

Hahaha. I am just kidding/joking. :D

It was very nice and kind of you to warn him in a friendly manner at the first time. I could say that it is sad that he did not even replied to you, but it was obvious that he do not care about your content, he just wanted attention to his own post. I can tell from your writing that you are a good man. Be careful. Some people tend to abuse that.

Everyone should stop spamming, and make real interactions instead. This whole blockchain would be better and more successful.

Some people tend to abuse that.

I know.. I've experienced that more than once in my life, but I still can't seem to change. It's sad though, that people are trying to take shortcuts when it's nothing but the opposite they are doing.

I loved the "conclusion" if I can call it that :), too bad he might never read it because spammer rarely read anything

Haha yeah.. I know. I realized that he probably wouldn't read my comments as he didn't reply to the ones before, but I just couldn't mute & downvote him without making another comment.

I like your hive work ethic :D It's very frustrating when people downvote you and you don't know what for

That is true. I would rather have an explanation than just a downvote.. So that's basically what I do. I explain why whenever I do it.

That's a sign you're famous and influential. No one spams me this way 😁

lol. They'll come, I promise you that. Spammers will never vanish, regardless of what we are doing.. But I still believe that we have to try to point them in the right direction before ignoring/muting or downvoting. Some people might actually learn and adapt.

Even I couldn't understand why they're doing that. I mean, come on if you don't know what to tell you should have just ignored commenting. Just be thankful that you read it learned from it. But I think it's obvious why he did that. He just wanted a response and at the same time visits his posts. It's clever but only fools think like that. Perhaps he understood now about how he does a comment.

While I truly believe that the best thing to do to get recognition and building an audience is to engage and make comments, spam is nothing but wrong and will never benefit you.

I'm in favour of muting anyone who is clearly wasting my attention. I consider it as a courtesy to future me ;).

But at the same time I have no illusion that there is any chance that spammers will diminish or disappear. They seem to be part and parcel for the internet in general these days.

They seem to be part and parcel for the internet in general these days.

They sure though, and I still can't understand why. They should have been able to figure out by now that it doesn't work anymore and that it never will benefit them.

Mute is a better way than flagging. it means we do not want to hear anything from him.
