In other words, in what ways from you drifted away from societal norms, and carved out a minimalist life for yourself, that makes you feel content that you're living your best life?

Yes, it is a continuous journey, and indeed, taking the road less traveled and doing things outside the 'norm' takes way more effort than some are prepared to put in.
