A Day in My Beautiful, Busy Life with Two Children.

Good morning to all my hive friends, how are you?

Life has recently been both joyful and busy. My days have been filled with my elder child's laughter and the gentle sounds of my two-month-old baby. Like many others, today too was woven with those small moments that make up a beautiful story – moments that give meaning to the exhaustion and pass by day after day.

This morning, as the golden sun peeked through the trees outside our window and the birds chirped softly to welcome a new day, I stepped into the kitchen with my little one curled close to my chest in a sling. I began preparing a simple vegetable stir-fry for breakfast, and the aroma of fresh curry leaves and sautéed onions quickly filled the air. Cooking has always been therapeutic for me, and now more than ever – it gives me a sense of rhythm amidst the unexpected dance of motherhood.

My elder child is now nearly 11 years old—full of energy and intelligence. He was in his room, working on his school assignments. From time to time, he would look up to proudly show me his excellent work, his eyes shining with joy.

Meanwhile, our little baby surprised us today—he smiled for the very first time. That big, toothless smile melted my heart. It was such a pure, unexpected moment. My older son even paused his play, came over to us, and said, “Amma, we love her!”

We all smiled together—and for a brief moment, that smile turned into a tear.

The surrounding environment itself feels like a gift—lush greenery, trees, and vines all around. It’s the perfect place to raise children with care and love. Later in the afternoon, I took both of them out to the backyard. I laid out a mat under the shade of a mango tree. While my elder child ran around chasing butterflies and asking curious questions about everything he saw, the baby peacefully fell asleep.

By evening, the kitchen came alive once more. I made coconut roti, served with a hearty meat curry—nutritious and easy for everyone to enjoy. When my husband came home, we all sat down together and shared stories from the day over our meal.

Have A nice day.
Best Regards,

Samadi Madushanki .
