No Mad People's Smiles

Some politicians are just corrupt; other are mediocre and incompetent; others want to be celebrities and will do anything to be liked by most; and yet other are pure evil. These are the ones to fear the most.

You know politicians are evil when they are able to threaten individuals or groups on live television wearing their best smile.

We have plenty of those in Venezuela. Chavez inaugurated a new era in politics. He was not a politician, but a military and as such he was used to just giving orders. In the military, there are drastic methods to get rid of those who may pose a threat to an evil agenda. When that kind of military become politicians and end up ruling a while country, then we have what we have now. After a while, the military mentality is imposed on the civilian body and politics become a filthy game.

Most of the leaders of the Bolivarian revolution have been evil in all the extent of the word. Whether they are young, old, women, gays, lesbians, or representative of indigenous peoples, they have made sure that their ideological and personal interest are prioritized. They have shown automatic solidarity with the party and always have a smile to give while making the most outrageous statements: “There are no political prisoners (only prisoners who happen to be politicians); there is not economic crisis in Venezuela; it is false that people are leaving the country in amounts that represent a migration crisis; there are no children in the streets; our prisons are free of weapons, drugs, and violence; human rights are respected like nowhere else in the world; those who criticize the revolution are delusional; the government provides free and high quality education and health services; we are champions in the preservation of our natural resources and the defense of our indigenous people;" and a long list of lies that have zero basis in reality.

They do know how to create their own reality, though and curiously some people here and elsewhere believes them. Who would resist such smiles?

The power of language and communication. They are masters in the use of euphemisms. That way it is easier to distort reality. You distort language, you distort reality.

Absolutely. One day a dictionary will be compiled and it will show the extent of their evil power of manipulation as well as people's eagerness to be fooled

I respect your words, but there are politicians who are based on truth and do their their responsibility which they are chosen for.

There got to be. I'm sure of that. But not here (in Venezuela), at least not yet. We have had at least efficient politicians who even if they served dictators (as it was the case of Juan Vicente Gómez or Marcos Pérez Jiménez) they left a legacy of infrastructures and processes that contributed to our country's modernization.
This generation of politicians/military, though, is all about robbing, destroying, and making sure that the majority stays as poor as possible so that they will always depend on their crumbs.
Yet you hear their speeches and they present themselves as the most devoted and humble public servants. That's how evil they are.

Of course I agree with you and you are quite right as there is a famous saying that five fingers cannot be equal. Similarly there are many politicians in our country who are corrupt but some of them are also good. What i have seen۔

Very relatable article I must say . The leaders we have nowadays are nothing to write home about when it comes to meaningful governance. My country is a vivid example..

Well. Wherever "Thin air" is 😁 I'm sorry it has fallen under the spell of bad governance. @asgharali commented that not all politicians are evil or corrupt. That may be true for some countries.
Just a few months ago, the whole world was nostalgically saying good bye to Angela Merkel, as one of the most remarkable heads of State in recent history. I'm sure some countries are less affected by political corruption or at least have more efficient systems to keep them under control. What we are seeing globally, though, is a chaotic turn towards authoritarianism, human rights violations, and shameless complicity in the name of political expediency.

I like your use of Sacarsm. @asgharali maybe correct with opinion of not all leaders are bad and corrupt but remember what the one bad apple does in a basket of apples .

@hlezama @typebox

And I strongly agree with you that there are many rulers in the country who are corrupt. I can tell you that some 80% of the rulers are corrupt but there are also 20% good people who are running the country. Yes, otherwise God is the memorizer of such countries.

The first impression when I saw the image you presented in the publication was one of shock. You are really right that these people are very evil, only the people who are suffering from this crazy regime, because this is not a government, can attest that what you published is absolutely true. And many of us who have similar ways of thinking take the situation with humor and sarcasm to make it more bearable. Your publication is excellent, it is a very real chronicle of what is happening in the country. Greetings.

Thanks, @nbarrios67
Sarcasm is probably the only way to carry on with this madness. Also, a certain sense of apathy is needed to both face the daily absurdities and the possible consequences of publicly denouncing them.
I am convinced that out religious idiosyncracies have played a key role in the perpetuation of this evil. On the one hand the people and their superstitions; on the other, the evil doers and their certainty that there's neither heaven nor hell.
You can't win at a game playing by limiting rules while the other team wipes their asses with those rules.
