Searching for Justice - an Introduction

The time has finally come for Justice to be served. Not in a legal or moral sense, but in the sense that I’ve been doing this AI generated Tarot Card deck thing for far too long and I’m really actually quite glad that this sentence is far too long.

There’s a pun there, did you see it? Take a breath and get ready to explore notions of Justice, which is represented in a potential cull list below.

image.png

I probably, again; generated way too many thumbnails for the concept of Justice, which means that I’ve got a lot of pictures to go through and examine for their artistic merit before I choose a final one to tweak.

Here we have Justice represented without her scales, which is probably problematic. What I do like however, is the dual swords which could be used for a duel against an injustice. The other element I dislike is the fact that the blindfold covers the entire face. I do like the colours, however. They’re very atmospheric.

I would like to name this image “Justice in a ball gown”; as the outfit is certainly the most striking element of the image. The ribbon of light framing Justice is an interesting element, and creates a great sense of movement. Given that Justice is most often represented in modern and contemporary culture as a statue, I’m not sure this fits in.

The other interesting element in this image is the broken sword, and the fact that the blindfold has taken on a portion of a helmet from some full plate armour. Really interesting and unique.

Next up, above; we have an image that I like an enormous amount. While there is no sword depicted, the scales are represented in an interesting manner. Some appear to be levitating in open air, which suggests to be that Justice may be a more universal thing than something represented by a woman.

We’re it not for the Egyptian-mummy-sequel facial wrap here, I’d pursue this image a further distance toward a final, but that seems like a little bit too much work, given I have so many other images on my short list.

This final image is significantly messier than those that came before. I like the notion that one side of the scale of Justice is the mind of the justice system itself; but the lack of an arm to hold those scales, and the highly non traditional pose of holding the sword by its blade feels me with a sense of unease.

Overall, these were some pretty interesting results for a first go around, and I’m keen to see what the other thumbnails hold for me in the future.

Hey, was the pun about serving the justice, about being it too long or both?

A yes, all images are beautiful and an art on its own. You didn't need to show us all. It's sad that all but one will be ditched. Or...?

I am finding that the process of curating the correct image is going to be an important part of AI-generated art work. Just as a good editor helps something like Chat GPT; I don't think we're ready for AI to replace everything.

I try to make puns all the time. I think it was more about the fact that the real justice here is that I'm looking at so many different types of justice that I'm suffering from a really long sentence (with a lack of a full stop for a while); instead of being in a prison or gaol. :)

Oh, more puns than I noticed, great.

By the way, while reading your reply I got two more associations - Justice for all and that famous painting, Liberty...?

What software are you using?

I'm using for these images a combination of Stable Diffusion, MidJourney, Photoshop, and some additional plug ins to Stable Diffusion via the AUTOMATIC1111 repo on GitHub.

Sound complicated :)

I heard about MidJourney yet I didn't try it because I didn't try to understand its pricing plan.

If you have a powerful GPU, you can get started with something like Visions of Chaos pretty easy on Windows.

Otherwise, if you can run a batch file and understand the most basic elements of git (such as git pull ) it is really not difficult to get started with something like Stable Diffusion at all:

https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui/blob/master/README.md

I've even gotten this running on my Apple Silicon laptop; as well as on my workstation, which has a 4090.

Great, thanks for the directions. I'll check them out.

I have Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 on desktop and whatever is in M1 mac pro :)

Git is my close friend so no worries there

It may run on your M1 Mac, depending on how much memory you have; as the system RAM and GPU memory are shared. On the 1050, it is unlikely to have enough VRAM unless the model files have been compressed enough to fit within 3 o 4 GB of VRAM which the 1050 would have.

The (almost) full face blindfolds are complete no-gos for me.
Other than that, I like the athmosphere you are creating in your pics.

Thanks. The prompt craft I went to for this combines a few of my favourite styles of art, and I'm really pleased to see it remain fairly consistent across such a large variety of images, given that I am not really using a specialised model.

The first image is powerful, it has character. But that justice has its mouth covered, I don't know very well what it can represent. It also lacks the scale, which is an essential element for me.

The scales of justice are one of the most important pictorial elements for this one, indeed! Themis (as a character from mythology) - which is seperate to the Justice Tarot; is such a powerful image. Might be one of the most widely recognised "classical" sculptures by the layman on the street; other than perhaps "The Thinker"

Thanks for including the image here, saved me from having to click on your profile and find it. Waifu Medusa is an interesting concept, in fact I wonder why there are not more anime or cartoons that explore mythology in the same way that the Titan Quest game series did.

What model did you use for the image? Guessing WD or Anything?

this one is from deliberate.

Yeah, I wonder too because it is something pretty interesting.

I post only on Twitter new Ai stuff since hive people want long discussions about why AI art is trash and copy and paste. On Twitter people share cool input.

Ai people on Twitter are really cool, Is worth it. I saw some voice-over ai that blows my mind.

Eng to Japanese to spain and so on with really nice synchronization.

Besides this, yeah you are right. Elon wins :D

Also regarding hive Content, the most important part is actually, you know, being a human and having human like conversations in the comments.

As a human, and not as a ChatGPT auto reply, I value interaction with breathing husks of flesh, water and bone from across the planet Earth.

yeah 100%, this is the core value on social media to exchange ideas and talk about topics.

100% agree!

I really love what you're doing with SB...I know I can't prompt the same thing that you do with it. Brilliant! I've heard that the 2.0 is even harder to prompt.

I haven't played around with 2.0 models yet, there's enough to experiment with in 1.4, 1.5, and the various VAEs you can use on top / aside them, not to mention hypernetworks, textual inversions; its a stupidly deep rabbit hole.

I have my 4090 now, so there's very little limitations on what I can run locally, so I have no interest in discord based bots for the time being.
