Splinterlands Daily Quest Stream Replay - November 21, 2021 - Still not back into diamond ... yet

avatar

Another neutral quest today, and some progress upwards on the road to Diamond... but no entry to Diamond. With 9 days left, there's plenty of time to get there, but the longer I spend out of the league, the less rewards I will yield over the course of the season.

There's also a fair bit of Stream Raiders played in this stream, its a fun little distraction while waiting for opponents to pick teams.

As a reminder, the Angel of Light give away will be going ahead on December 4.

Check my twitch streaming schedule below for that.

Thanks as ever for all your support!

If you haven't started playing Splinterlands, you should do that immediately. It's very good fun.

I opened it up for the first time in ages and realised I still have cards, but have never played a game. Every time I go in there I shit myself as I have no idea how to play.

You shouldn't! It is just a game. There's literally nothing to lose unless you sell your cards :D

Really????? Then... how do people make money???

Well, you earn DEC (the in game currency) with each win once you enter the Bronze 1 league or higher. There's potential appreciation on the value of the cards, too.

Some players rent out their excess cards to others, others play the markets... there's also tournaments which can be entered where players can earn prizes.

So there's a variety of ways to earn, but if you're just playing teh game, you're not losing money by losing a battle, just the opportunity to win the DEC that battle would generate. (and, if its a draw, no one wins!)

been tryikng to figure it out - getting there, slowly slowly. I have a headache already lol.
How do you get to know what each card does? And which element do you choose, I mean, is that dependent on how good the cards are or do you like fight fire with water (logical in my world) - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Lots and lots of experience! No splinter has a defnitive advantage over another as you reach the higher leagues.

The way I think of Splinterlands is such:

Each league (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and above) are their own little games unto themselves, due to the differing depth and interaction of the game mechanics.

As it becomes more complex, so do the number of moves. If you think of it like chess - first you learn how the pawn works, then perhaps the knight, bishop... except in Splinterlands the chess pieces are all your cards.

Then the board is never quite the same - with the differing mana sets there's some monsters that can be used to devasting effect, while others ... not so much. The idea is to adapt to the circumstances.

Unfortunately, there's no real way to write a formula that just works - the only way to figure out what works and doesn't in Splinterlands is just like playing thousands of games of chess.

It is a very elegant and sophisticated game with crazy amounts of depth. It'll only get deeper with the release of Chaos Legions!

Okay thanks for replying. I'll keep playing practice games and reading to find out more. It certainly seems to be a well love game and I'm super intrigued. Now I've quit work I can make some time to figure it out. Thanks for replying. X
