Home Education Curation Collection. 28th February 2021
There have been some great posts for early learning, so if you've still got young learners at home I think you'll gain a lot from the features in this week's newsletter.
First our usual thank you everyone who makes this community what it is. This week Hive for interaction on posts in the HomeEdders community goes to:
• 6 Hive - @ryivhnn
• 1 Hive - @cmplxty
• 1 Hive - @melbourneswest
• 1 Hive - @arrliinn
• 1 Hive - @anli
Today I read a comment from @ryivhnn on @taliakerch's museum post which gave some great tips from her experience of her own years of home educating. It was a reminder of why the interactions in this community can be so valuable. We all have so much we can bring to the community in support of other educators. Thank you @ryivhnn, this is why you'll be the beneficiary this week.
A huge thank you to @kidsisters and @missdeli for their delegations to the community. We don't ask people to delegate, it's always been members and supporters who've chosen to do so because they value the community. I am humbled and grateful to see this list of delegators grow.
Children, particularly very young ones, are tactile learners. They learn so much through touch and as @missdeli shows her son plant propagation, you can see through the photos how much he gains by being quite literally hands on.
Earlier in the week I was discussing that hands on learning demonstrated by Missdeli, then @nanyuris gives us this perfect compliment with lots of different ideas for sensory stimulation. These could bring hours of learning fun and even help keep some busy hands occupied if you're busy or overwhelmed by other things.
This experiment @taliakerch and son have been doing on none Newtonian fluid, could get messy! There's so much fun and knowledge to be gained from it, though.
Don't worry, hands on learning doesn't stop with the youngest children, one of the @divinekids has been doing some 6th grade science on the behaviour of plants. I love how an added layer of learning is added when @divinekids make their posts to record and share their learning.
The last feature was a hard choice, with so many great posts this week. I decided to stick with tactile learning, in the end, so I hope you enjoy @melbourneswest’s approach to helping children learn about disabilities.
Thank you for joining us. This curation was brought to you by @minismallholding and this week I have chosen @ryivhnn to be a 10% beneficiary of this post, and have added in another beneficiary for @unschool for the ongoing delegation support. Thank you!
