A LEGACY TO HOLD ON TO

My life has been a testimony that sometimes I just feel like an ungrateful person for not always talking about all the good things that life has blessed me with. A lot of people has made me who I am today and for the surprising part, most of them made me want to be good no matter what because they've only showed me goodness and even those that thought they were trying to be bad to me also made me make up my mind to still strive to be a good person.

As a child that didn't get to experience her mother's love while growing up, I've always learnt to appreciate those who drew me close to themselves. My dad was always striving to make hands meet so his family will always be as comfortable as much as possible but then it got to a point that no matter how much he tried, it felt harder for him and then somehow, there were always people around to help out even without us asking and at that point I knew that was the kind of person I wanted to be, maybe more.

I've struggled in life but not as much as I thought it would be and that was all because of those people that took my life personally for some reasons best known to them. At some point I had to just sit down and asked myself why they cared so much but I could only conclude that it was the grace of God speaking for me. But then, I felt so fortunate to have found favor not just in the sight of God but also in the sight of most people I come across.

And because of that, I told myself that I'd be like that too to others and even in a much better way of there is. When it comes to having people around me, I've been blessed with the best people and I want to also be someone that someone would be happy they are blessed with. My dad found it hard to know what his girls needed because of obvious reasons but then there was this particular lady who always took care of my sister and I like we were her children.

She would always get us something new when coming back from the market, like she literally thinks of us in everything she does. She was only our next door neighbor and she did that much for us. Her personality was so sweet that I worked so hard to be like her unknowingly to her. She was my mentor in literally every way. I was so comfortable around her like I've known her all my life and she never failed to always give me the best advice in every situation.

She wasn't judgemental at all, she was a definition of a caring and loving person. She had her bad sides but I can barely remember any of it now because she was just trying so well in other aspects. I learned a lot of things from her now that I'm thinking about it but sadly I didn't get to spend a lot of time with her because we had to move from that neighborhood. I was still very young then so I couldn't get her contact or anything, I only kept her beautiful memories with me.

She is just one of those people that have influenced the lady that I've become today. Getting to spend time with all of these amazing people was a gift to me because today I don't even have any means of reaching them but I do appreciate how much they've influenced my life to be the way it is today. I'm still working on doing better every single day and I'm happy for how much progress I'm making. Now I don't see sharing whatever I have as a big deal most times because I know I've received even more and I'm hoping there will come a time when it won't be anything to me at all.
