It has been over 20 years since the people of Hamelin lived in their little beautiful city with all the best resources and all the good things they ever wanted. They shared everything in common, no one had lack for anything except those that didn't want to be burdens to anyone.

The city had a Mayor that was in charged of everything that is going on in the city. The Mayor was a very pompous man because he knew all the power in the city belongs to him and he was never tired of flaunting his wealth to anyone who he met newly. The Mayor lived in the best building of the city and because of his love for his cities wealth, he always did whatever he can to keep that position as a Major.

As the day went by, the Major became more and more greedy that he started caring less about his people's need, he was just concerned of himself and his family. The people of Hamelin were scared of the Mayor because he has become a very heartless man, that he never mind killing anyone that tries to go against him. The Major knew how delicate the people were and he used that to his own advantage.

Days went by, soon turned to weeks and just like that it is already 10 years since this Mayor was chosen, it's long passed the time they should have selected a new Mayor, they normally change their Majors every 5 years but they were scared of even bringing up that topic in the presence of the Mayor. The people of Hamelin felt really helpless because there was no one who could stand against the Mayor.

Things were getting worse, people were now dying out of hunger because the Mayor has ordered them to pay a very huge tax for the upkeep of the city because he was not able to take away their rights of owning a land. The people now had to sell the produce they got from their farm land just to pay up the tax. After harvesting on their farm lands, they go to neighboring cities to sell their products to them because those cities lacked those things. At the end of making their sales, they will always go to the major to make their payments and before they knew it, they had very little to take care of their families.

While the people of Hamelin were suffering from hunger, the Major and his family were eating the big spoils and they were getting fatter every as the people were dying of hunger. There happened to be a young boy who was an orphan, he lost his parents the same year the Mayor was chosen and he was always sad to see how the Major was treating the people of Hamelin because he loved them so much. Dan who happens to be the young boy was a very good singer, he always like singing when he was feeling down and that made him feel better.

One day, while Dan was walking along a lonely path, he saw some men beating a very old man and he recognized that the men were from the Mayor so he quickly hid himself, he saw how the old man was struggling to survive and he knew he had to do something to save him so he started making some really funny sounds and before the men knew what was happening, they saw so many cats surrounding them and soon they started bouncing on them with their paws and they took to their heels to save themselves. The little boy quickly came out of his hide out and he ran to met the old man and he took him to his little house to take care of him.

After some few days, the old man regained full consciousness and he was so amazed to see the young boy that saved him, he appreciated him a lot for his kind gesture and he was also curious to know how sure a boy delivered him from those strong men. The little boy narrated the story to him but the old man was not still satisfied and he asked further, asking the boy to tell him how come the cats could hear his strange sound and came to chase the men away. I don't know how I managed to get them to come to my aid but I always make that sound when I'm in need of help and I always get the help I need, said Dan.

The old man was so impressed and he told the Dan that he had the power to save his people and all he needs to do was to get the people regain their hole again. That is going to be a really hard task to accomplish seeing that the people has already lost their faith, said Dan. Well then we will have to find one way or another to make them believe in you, as that is the only way you could save your beloved people from the hands of their wicked Mayor.

Dan was not sure of how he was going to get his people believe in him but he was certain he want to save his people from the wicked mayor. After much deliberation on how he should go about saving his people, he remembered that the people always loved listening to good music and he also knew that music was a very good healer of a broken soul. Dan made necessary preparations to make the people gather at a particular place where they normally sit down in the evening towards bed time.

When Dan was sure that everyone was present, he started making a very melodious and emotional sound and soon all the people were very lively because that was the sound of the city's best song which they normally sang when they were happy. They all sang the song to their heart content even as some danced to the melodies that they made. Dan seeing that the people's mood were been lightened, he quickly find a way to draw their attention to himself and when he successfully did that, he said some really motivating words to them and it went straight to all of their hearts and they were will to stand up to the mayor.

The next day, the people were supposed to pay their tax but to the Mayor's greatest surprise, not even one person came and this made him very angry and he sent out his boys to go remind the people of their unpaid tax but when they got there, and tried using force on them as they always did, they people stood up against them and they were surprised and they managed to run for their lives and went straight to the Major to tell him what they encountered. The Mayor was more raged and he quickly got more boys to go to the people but unfortunately for them, the people overpowered them and also drove them from the land.
