THE POWER OF UNITY

Have you seen a bunch of broom before? Have you ever tried breaking it, if yes, were you able to break them? Well, I love using the bunch of broom as a case study when I want to talk about the essence of unity to humanity. We as humans we most times forget about the power of unity, the strength of being in oneness and we somehow don't see unity as anything that is necessary in most aspects of our lives.

workers-78002_640.jpg

Nowadays we are no longer bothered about trying to foster unity among ourselves, we are more focused on making the most out of this world, we care more about our own well-being and satisfaction to that of others. Well, that's not bad but the fact that we don't care of others anymore but ourselves alone is something that is really not funny at all. We all live on earth but then we don't seem to understand why we have more than just our individual selves on earth.

In time past, we heard of a story of a nation that was so united, they all spoke one language and they all had one goal and because of that, they decided to build a tower that will make them see God. Because of their togetherness and unity, they started building the tower very quickly but when God saw that the people were determined to do as they have said, he brought confusion into their midst by giving them different languages.

Now every man was speaking in different languages and it was a total confusion, due to the confusion, they were unable to complete the task that they all planned to accomplish. This is a story from the Bible in the book of Genesis 11:1-9, there you can get the actual message.

There are a few lessons in this story that gives us the insight of the power of unity because God recognized the power of unity and that was why he had to make them speak different languages or else they would have had their way with what they planned to do. So below are some vital lessons from the story;

untitled.gif

  • UNITY AND COOPERATION IS KEY TO ACHIEVING ANYTHING IN LIFE : Just like the illustration of the broom, so where those people in the story, they all had one language and one speech and they kept progressing with all the plans they had but then God knew they were up to no good and if he didn't intervene, they would have accomplished their goals, so he scattered them all over the world after giving them different languages.

  • WHEN PEOPLE ARE UNITED THEY ARE UNSTOPPABLE : God saw that if he left the people to do as they wish, they would have easily achieved what they wanted because they were united, God knew they were unstoppable as long as they where united and that was why he had to spread them all over the earth.

As long as people are united, it will be almost impossible to do anything to them that will have effect on them and that is why just like the bunch of broom, unless you separate them one after the other, it would be impossible to break the brooms, hence the power of having unity is that, as long as people are united they are unstoppable and unbreakable but the moment there is any division, it will be very easy to destroy them.

In our different countries, we have come to realize that we lack unity in doing things and that is why it is very easy for things to go wrong but if only we all could just try to speak in one voice though different languages, we will be able to achieve so many things both individually and as a nation.

Until next time, stay BLESSED and AWESOME!!!

This is a beautiful work @hopestylist I love the illustration you made with the bunch of broom. Unity actually brings strenghth. As such, when we are United we stand, but division brings about a terrible fall. Thanks for sharing dear friend. ♥

That's right, the easiest way to stop progress is to bring in division.

Thank you so much for your beautiful contribution, I'm grateful

The analogy of the broom is a perfect example and it speaks so much about unity.

Being united in heart and mind for a certain goal, make such group powerful and strong. In fact, it isn't easy to infiltrate such groups to make them weak. That's why people resort to the idea of divide and rule if they want to penetrate such groups... in other words, divide the group so you can rule them. Albeit, when they are united, they are not easy to rule.

Well, honestly, I may not be quick to use that bible passage as it somehow implies the notion that God doesn't appreciate the unity of man. However, also including the reason for that action may be a good way to reduce such thoughts.

Yeah, when men are united there won't be need for a ruler, but then man always want to be in control and that is why there is always one division or another.

Well, it's true that some may think that God does not appreciate unity but then when you take time to read the Bible passage you will understand that they had a plan that was up to no good and that was why God had to scatter them.

They were united yes but the power they had, they were using it for something that they shouldn't and that was why God took it away from them. I had to put in the Bible passage because the stone was not mine, so it was like the source, hehe.

Thank you for the observation by the way, that's why it's a good thing to ask questions and not assume, for others who might read the meaning that God doesn't appreciate unity, I'm sure they will also react to it just like you did and that way I will be able to explain more.

No matter what we have to stay unified and work towards a common goal. Without unity, the enemy will be able to break us apart.

Yeah when people are united it will be almost impossible to get them down but then, it is not all gatherings that are united that should be and that was the case of the people of Babel and that was why God had to scatter them.

Oh wow, that is a really nice idea, thanks for sharing it here, I'm glad you did.

Hi @hopestylist! Nice reflection on the power of unity. I mostly agree with you but there is much more to say about the story of Babel. I think God confused their language because, yes, they were united but for the wrong reason. That seems to be a human problem too. A huge topic to be discussed.

Greetings!

You're absolutely right, God confused their language because they were up to no good. That shows that, being united can be used for something positive and negative as well because it is certain that when there is unity, there is bound to be progress but when it is used for something bad, it is when God not sets in.

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm happy you could understand the story from that light, some people might think God is in disagreement with unity but that is not the case at all, God was against their evil thoughts and not their togetherness and the best way to make their plans fail was to put confusion among them.

It is a funny thing, I am a project manager and for years have been all about teamwork, I believe in teamwork and forget that unity is not common!

I can re with this but then, teamwork also needs unity although they don't have to agree, the goals will compel them too, hehe.
