Carretas y petisos
Frustrada excursión a Alto Río Senguer. Lo habíamos planificado desde antes de nuestro arribo a la ciudad de Esquel y mi amigo Horacio se encargó de reservar la cabaña en ese pequeño pueblo del sudoeste de la provincia de Chubut.
Es un lugar que mi esposa y yo no conocemos y mi amigo solo de haber pasado por allí en un par de ocasiones en alguno de sus viajes patagónicos.
Por supuesto que además de la atracción turística esta la posibilidad de pescar en alguno de sus ríos y lagos circundantes, ya que íbamos hasta allí, nos aseguramos que podríamos tirar nuestras moscas con posibilidades de engañar a alguna trucha.
Salimos esta mañana y ya teníamos planificado hacer una parada intermedia en el pueblo de Gobernador Costa, distante a 180 kilómetros y con algunos restaurantes dignos de visitar, el objetivo era almorzar en la parrilla "El petiso" y allí llegamos.
Tanta fama tiene el lugar que tuvimos que esperar algunos minutos para conseguir mesa en su pequeño pero atestado local. Mientras esperábamos nuestras esposas fueron a reponer combustible en una estación de servicios cercana. Volvieron con una fea noticia, se prendía una luz que indicaba que el alternador tenía una falla y eso significa que la batería del vehículo no se estaba recargando.
Mientras almorzamos y corroboramos la gran cocina del Petiso, llamamos a un electricista de la zona pero no estaba disponible hasta pasadas las 17 horas, faltaban casi 3 horas y desde la concesionaria donde mi amigo compró el vehículo y a la cual también llamamos, nos aconsejaron volver con luces apagadas y sin estéreo, GPS o cualquier otro adminículo que consumiera la carga.
Volvimos a Esquel, no si antes observar algo más de Gobernador Costa y una particularidad especial llamó mi atención, en la divisoria central de la ruta principal que además sirve de avenida para el poblado, hay carretas antiguas colocadas sobre tarimas, solo paramos para observar una que estaba en perfecto estado de conservación y es la que muestro aquí.
No estábamos de humor para detenernos en cada una de ellas, quizás la próxima vez que pasemos por allí y con el vehículo funcionando de la manera correcta.
El restaurante es para recomendar y el petiso existe, es el dueño y está en ese lugar desde hace 50 años, ya es un anciano de paso cansino y pelo blanco, pero sigue cocinando carnes tiernas en esa parrilla que lo acompaña desde siempre. Había varios turistas extranjeros de visita por la zona y todos quedaban maravillados del asado, de la atención y supongo que también de las antiguas carretas que ahora son solo adornos.
Frustrated excursion to Alto Río Senguer. We had planned it before our arrival in the city of Esquel and my friend Horacio was in charge of reserving the cabin in that small town in the southwest of the province of Chubut.
It is a place my wife and I do not know and my friend has only passed through there a couple of times on one of his Patagonian trips.
Of course, in addition to the tourist attraction, there is the possibility of fishing in one of its surrounding rivers and lakes, since we were going there, we made sure that we could cast our flies with the chance of fooling some trout.
We left this morning and we had already planned to make an intermediate stop in the town of Gobernador Costa, 180 kilometers away, and with some restaurants worth visiting, the objective was to have lunch at the "El patio" grill and we arrived there.
The place is so famous that we had to wait a few minutes to get a table in its small but crowded place. While we waited, our wives went to refuel at a nearby service station. They came back with bad news, a light came on indicating that the alternator had a fault and that means that the vehicle's battery was not recharging.
While we had lunch and confirmed the great kitchen of Petiso, we called an electrician in the area but he was not available until after 5:00 p.m., there were almost 3 hours to go from the dealership where my friend bought the vehicle and we also called, they advised us to return with lights off and no stereo, GPS, or any other gadget consuming the charge.
We returned to Esquel, not before observing something more of Gobernador Costa and a unique feature caught my attention, in the central dividing line of the main route that also serves as an avenue for the town, there are old carts placed on platforms, we only stopped to observe a which was in perfect condition and is the one I show here.
We weren't in the mood to stop at every single one of them, perhaps the next time we drive by with the vehicle running the right way.
The restaurant is worth recommending and the short guy exists, he is the owner and has been in that place for 50 years, he is already an old man with a slow walk and white hair, but he continues to cook tender meats on that grill that has always been with him. There were several foreign tourists visiting the area and everyone was amazed at the barbecue, the attention and I suppose also the old carts that are now just ornaments.
