Cosas sueltas - Loose things
Hoy no tengo ganas de hablar de finanzas, de economía, de inflación o ningún otro tema relacionado. Simplemente estoy un poco abrumado por estos temas que tienen opiniones y posiciones distintas, en ocasiones contrarias y que provocan dudas y ansiedad. Así que voy hablar de cosas que se me vayan ocurriendo mientras escribo.
Lo primero que me viene a la mente son los devastadores incendios en la Patagonia chilena y argentina, sin descuidar varios otros que se están produciendo en el norte argentino. El calor es insoportable en algunas regiones, ayer mismo mi hija me comentaba que habló con una amiga que es originaria de la provincia de Santiago del Estero pero que vive desde hace años aquí en la Capital Federal, había recibido un llamado de su hermana que continúa viviendo en su lugar de origen y le comentó que el día anterior el termómetro llegó a los 56° centígrados y hasta los 64° de sensación térmica, casi imposible de soportar por el ser humano.
No caben dudas que tanto el calor como el frío extremo, los incendios y sequías, los huracanas y quizás también los terremotos son cada vez más importantes, es la evidencia de la mala administración de los recursos, de la polución y de otras barbaridades que los seres humanos nos hacemos a nosotros mismos. Lo comparo con el tabaquismo y la drogadicción, todos sabemos que hacen mal a la salud, pero muchos no pueden evitar consumir. Hace pocos días se conoció una noticia que no sorprende por su repitencia, choque frontal de dos vehículos en una ruta en el exclusivo balneario de Punta del Este, en Uruguay, luego de las pericias se comprobó que ambos conductores manejaban bajo los efectos de cócteles de droga y alcohol, la consecuencia un par de jóvenes muertas y varios heridos de gravedad. Como el cambio climático, la combinación de errores y malas conductas ecológicas nos llevan directamente al choque frontal.
Cambiando de tema, por aquí la situación está cada vez más divertida, para los que la miran desde afuera porque los que estamos adentro del país no tenemos otra solución que mirar y tratar de aportar nuestro granito de arena para que algo cambie de una buena vez. No es posible que un país que hace poco más de un siglo estaba entre los primeros del mundo se haya derrumbado de la manera en que lo ha hecho, creo que ni siquiera a propósito se pudo llegar a esta situación, ha sido la ineptitud y la maldad de los sucesivos gobernantes. Es evidente que no elegimos bien nunca y que por si con esto no alcanzara, nuestra memoria es corta y en poco tiempo olvidamos lo mal que se han desempeñado algunos políticos y los volvemos a votar.
Esta mañana me desperté con la noticia de que Vargas Llosa el hispano-peruano Nobel de literatura ha sido nombrado miembro de la prestigios academia francesa convirtiéndose de esa manera en el primer escritor que no escribe en francés en ingresar. Un merecidísimo honor para uno de los mejores exponentes de la literatura universal. En su discurso trasmitido en vivo en el día de ayer mencionó algo que como siempre deja mucho para pensar y recapacitar, dijo que la novela gala ha tenido por misión salvar a la democracia.
Otro tema de la semana y esto ya se parece a los resúmenes de noticias que reciben algunos directivos y funcionarios con poco tiempo disponible para leer por si mismos, ha sido el gran error de un nuevo chatbot basado en Inteligencia Artificial que respondió mal una pregunta de ciencia y la empresa creadora perdió en un rato más de 100.000 millones de dólares de su valor de mercado, “un pequeño error”.
En un anuncio de Google diseñado para presentar en sociedad el chatbot de IA llamado Bard respondió erróneamente una pregunta sobre el telescopio espacial James Webb, dijo que fue el primero en tomar fotografías de un planeta fuera de nuestro sistema solar cuando en realidad esa hazaña fue protagonizada por el telescopio del observatorio Europeo Austral Muy Grande (VLT) en el año 2004. Los científicos hicieron notar rápidamente el error y Google ha retrocedido un casillero en la carrera por estar al frente de la mejor tecnología de IA.
Últimamente Google ha estado bajo mucha presión, probablemente debido a los buenos avances que Microsoft ha logrado en la materia al aliarse con OpenAI creando el nuevo software ChatGPT que en poco tiempo ha logrado notoriedad, la presión en ocasiones hace que se tomen decisiones apresuradas que llevan a este tipo de problemas. Me ha causado gracia el nombre del chatbot “Bard”, aquí en mi país, coloquialmente hablando se menciona la palabra bardo para describir un problema, un lío o un descontrol.
Podría seguir con muchos más temas, hoy en día las redes sociales y los periódicos en internet traen noticias de todo tipo, es imposible no estar al tanto de lo que sucede, a menos que vivamos dentro de un frasco, algo que cada vez más personas están adoptando como modo de vida, no me refiero a vivir dentro de un frasco por supuesto sino alejados de la tecnología, de las noticias del mundo y de las relaciones con otros. No debe ser sencillo, aunque suena tentador.
