El golf de la PGA y el comienzo de los grandes torneos (SPA-ENG)
Para aquellos amigos seguidores de #fulldeportes que no conocen esta actividad o que no la siguen con asiduidad, probablemente no estén al tanto de cuando comienza o termina una temporada, que como en todos los deportes tiene su época de receso.
En el golf es un tanto confusa esa línea de comienzo y fin, principalmente porque no existe en la práctica, siempre hay torneos disputándose alrededor del mundo y particularmente su principal liga, la PGA, se ocupa de mantener la maquinaria en funcionamiento en algunas de sus circuitos o tours como se los suele llamar, hagamos un rápido repaso: el tour más importante es el denominado precisamente PGA Tour, en este circuito es donde compiten los principales jugadores del mundo, es donde descollaron e hicieron historia Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus y Tiger Woods, para nombras solo a algunos de los máximos exponentes, luego está el PGA Tour Champions, es en realidad el circuito de veteranos, cualquier jugador mayor de 50 años que haya participado de alguno de los circuitos de la PGA tiene derecho a clasificar y participar, el PGA Tour Américas, reservado para jugadores de esta parte del mundo y que se desarrolla en todo el continente americano, el Korn Ferry Tour es un circuito que premia a los mejores con la tarjeta del circuito mayor, el Lady PGA Tour es el circuito reservado para las mujeres donde juegan las principales golfistas de todo el mundo, por último el PGA University es un circuito reservado para universitarios que simboliza la puerta de entrada a los grandes tours regidos por la PGA.
Con tantos circuitos, con torneos todas las semanas y diseminados entre muchos países del mundo, es lógico que no se sepa cuando comienza y cuando termina la oferta de golf de primer nivel mundial, y eso que no hablo de los circuitos europeos, tampoco de los organizados por cada país ni del nuevo circuito LIV que está aspirando a fuerza de dinero a muchos importantes jugadores de todas las latitudes.
Pero hablando exclusivamente del PGA Tour, ya se han disputado varios torneos, aunque los más importantes tienen un calendario que da comienzo ahora, precisamente ayer se jugó la primera ronda del Players, uno de los torneos más trascendentales del circuito descontando a los cuatro Majors.
Y esta primera ronda encuentra al norirlandés Rory Mcllroy al tope del tablero acompañado por los norteamericanos Xander Schauffele y Whyndam Clark con -7 golpes del par de la cancha que para este link denominado TPC Sawgrass y ubicado en Ponte Vedra Beach, estado de Florida es de 72 golpes.
Precisamente el extraordinario jugador europeo tuvo una participación descollante con 10 birdies en estos primeros 18 hoyos, aunque dos malos golpes de salida en los hoyos 7 y 18 donde se fue al agua, provocaron la pérdida de 3 golpes (bogey en el 7 y doble bogey en el 18) por lo que la cuenta final fue de "solo" -7. Hasta el presente, nunca nadie había hecho 10 birdies en este trazado.
Este campo de juego cuenta con uno de los hoyos icónicos de todo el mundo, me refiero al hoyo 17 denominado "la isla" un par 3 donde los jugadores deben lanzar desde una distancia de tan solo 130 yardas, algo que para los profesionales de este nivel debería ser solo un trámite y una compulsa para determinar quien deja la pelota más cerca. Es curioso comprobar que en este nivel de profesionales en tiros de práctica solo tienen una dispersión de unos 3 metros alrededor de una bandera que se encuentra a 130 yardas, ese es el nivel de precisión con que ejecutan sus tiros, sin embargo, en un torneo de tanta importancia, donde alrededor del green solo hay agua, la presión hace que haya muchos tiros desviados, la mayoría de ellos se paga con penalidad al caer al agua. La mente de las personas es una herramienta poderosa, en casos como este suele jugar malas pasadas. Aunque ese problema pareció no afectar a Ryan Fox quien hizo hoyo en 1 golpe justamente en este difícil par 3.
Recién se ha jugado una sola vuelta de 4 que componen el torneo, muchos nombres importantes se encuentran encaramados en las primeras posiciones y esto solo promete lucha hasta el final, hare un resumen seguramente el próximo lunes cuando se conozca al ganador.

Es muy cierto, estimado @hosgug, no estoy al tanto de cuando comienza o termina una temporada, me llama la atención cuando veo por televisión un juego, entiendo poco de este deporte, se ve exigente, no es fácil darle con el palo de golf a la pelota y meterla en el hoyo.
Que siga la ronda de PGA Tour, todavía faltan 3 rondas. Esperemos que quede el mejor. Esperaré el resumen final.

Es curioso que un deporte tan sencillo en sus objetivos tenga un manual de reglas enorme y en ciertos casos complejo de utilizar y determinar cuál de todas ellas se aplica en alguna situación no del todo clara.
Sin embargo es un juego apasionante y realmente difícil, requiere una técnica depurada para ejecutar buenos golpes.
