Sub 20 World Cup - we have semifinalists

Yesterday the quarterfinal matches were completed, two games remained to be played and the general trend of surprising results did not stop.

In the match between South Korea and Nigeria, many of us assumed that the Nigerians would win, mainly due to their great performance in the most difficult group of the tournament where they shared the lead with two wins and one loss with Brazil and Italy, finishing third due to to the smallest goal difference and that led him directly to face the host, Argentina. However, they caused one of the great surprises of the tournament by beating the Albicelestes 2-0. This result, together with their great physical strength, made them favorites in their quarterfinal match against South Korea, which they had won in the group stage. One win and two draws, having just beaten one of the favorites: France. The final result of 1-0 in favor of Korea was not expected, honestly.

The other match was more difficult to predict, the United States and Uruguay were very close in the previous one and in my summary yesterday I asked for the mystical Uruguayan, plus that they usually bring out to play when things are not going well for them. Well, it seems that they heard me since they beat the United States 2-0, consecrating themselves among the 4 finalists. Good for our neighbors and brothers. I have several Uruguayan friends and I am happy for them, they need an important tournament that will bring them back to the forefront of world football, they have high-class players all over the world but in recent years they have not been able to form a team that would bring them those triumphs that once were very frequent. Perhaps the youth team will give them the push they need to believe in their football and its virtues again.

Therefore, friends, the semifinals that will be played next Thursday 6/8 will be the following: Uruguay will face the surprising Israel and Italy will define their ticket to the final against another big surprise: South Korea.

I see myself in the obligation to indicate again that before the matches Uruguay and Italy are favorites, mainly due to history and background, however, this tournament has already shown that it is not carried away by what has happened before or by football tradition or the scrolls collected in the years that international tournaments have been taking place, anyone can beat anyone.

It is amply proven.
