The conquest of the west - La conquista del oeste
Although most of the information I have comes from movies and comics, I have a formed idea and I can give my opinion like any other about the great colonizing epic that took place in the United States as soon as the 19th century began.
Just as at that time an enormous mobilization was unleashed from the east to the west in search of indomitable and unexplored territories, full of wealth and opportunities, now many companies and also individuals have launched themselves to conquer the metaverse, whereby a strange coincidence the same goals are sought.
The objective of reaching this new promised land, full of adventures and opportunities just like two centuries ago, has great risks that can lead people to a destiny of fortune or ruin, perhaps in a different way from that of that moment, the life is not at stake, rather it is within the game.
Indeed, the metaverse can be considered as a game, although what begins to be outlined there has more things similar to a great scenario of the life of each individual than to a character partially guided by our joystick, like Mario Bros, Zelda or Lara Croft.
However, there is a huge difference, the old west was something real and palpable, that was there forever and you just had to take it, the metaverse is still an idea in development, full of possibilities and challenges, although for now only outlined by the mind of some bright and determined developers whose intentions may or may not be good and philanthropic.
Like any idea, putting it into practice will be complex and plagued with vicissitudes. The most dangerous thing I see is that many of the promoters are shaping their own virtual worlds in the metaverse, armed according to their own ideas and ambitions; there is a central thread that unites all the pioneers, although the paths are also different depending on who is shaping it.
Those of us who look at it from the outside, even without understanding too much, realize that following only one of the most active participants can be risky, a blindfolded bet (or with distorted virtual reality glasses).
However, waiting for this new west to develop and conquer could mean that when we arrive all the lands are already occupied and the opportunities restricted to supporting roles, just like in the movies.
Aunque la mayor parte de la información que poseo deviene de películas e historietas, tengo una idea formada y puedo opinar como cualquier otro sobre la gran epopeya colonizadora que en los Estados Unidos se desarrolló apenas iniciado el siglo XIX.
Así como en ese momento se desató una enorme movilización desde el este hacia el oeste en búsqueda de territorios indómitos e inexplorados, llenos de riquezas y oportunidades, ahora muchas empresas y también particulares se han lanzado a la conquista del metaverso, donde por una extraña coincidencia se buscan los mismos objetivos.
El objetivo de llegar a esta nueva tierra prometida, plena de aventuras y oportunidades también como hace dos siglos, tiene grandes riesgos que pueden llevar a las personas hacia un destino de fortuna o de ruina, quizás en forma distinta a la de aquel momento, la vida no está en juego, más bien está dentro del juego.
Efectivamente, el metaverso puede ser considerado como un juego, aunque lo que allí comienza a delinearse tiene más cosas parecidas a un gran escenario de la propia vida de cada individuo que a un personaje guiado parcialmente por nuestra palanca de mando, como Mario Bros, Zelda o Lara Croft.
Sin embargo, hay una enorme diferencia, el viejo oeste era algo real y palpable, que estaba allí desde siempre y solo había que tomarlo, el metaverso aun es una idea en desarrollo, pleno de posibilidades y desafíos, aunque por ahora solo delineado por la mente de algunos brillantes y decididos desarrolladores cuyas intenciones pueden ser buenas y filantrópicas, o no.
Como toda idea, llevarla a la práctica será compleja y plagada de vicisitudes, lo más peligroso que veo es que muchos de los impulsores están moldeando en el metaverso sus propios mundos virtuales armados según sus propias ideas y también ambiciones; hay un hilo conductor central que une a todos los pioneros aunque también los caminos son diferentes según quien lo está moldeando.
Los que lo miramos desde afuera, aun sin comprender demasiado, nos damos cuenta que seguir solo a uno de los más activos participantes puede ser riesgoso, una apuesta con los ojos vendados (o con lentes de realidad virtual distorsionados).
Sin embargo, esperar a que este nuevo oeste se desarrolle y conquiste, podrá significar que cuando lleguemos todas las tierras ya estén ocupadas y las oportunidades restringidas a papeles secundarios, como en las películas.
